    1911 owners help please

I'm having an issue with the slide stop working loose when firing. Near as I can tell there isn't enough divot for the detent to rest in. If at all possible could someone take a picture of the face of their slide stop. My A-O's flat

I use the tip of a pointed grindstone in a Dremel to make a small divot in the face of the slide stop so the tip of the plunger has a little recess to drop into.
To locate where the divot should be, use a felt pen to color the face, then move the slide stop up and down a few times to make a mark / scratch in the ink.
The divot goes where the top of the scratch is.

I'll try to take a pic.

The first time it happened to me, I did take a fine tipped dremel stone and created a divot. I was a little overzealous with it, to now where I go to takedown my 1911, I have to apply force with a hard object(I cannot apply enough force with my finger) on the slide stop in order to disengage it from the detent. Minor goof, it will go away when I upgrade to a new slide stop pretty soon.

If you decide to create a divot yourself, remember you don't make a single hole for the detent to fit into. You need to create a trench so that the catch can move upward and engage with your slide to lock it reward. There should be enough wear on your slide stop from the detent to understand the amount of travel it has. It really doesn't require much, a very very shallow recess is all that's needed. If it happens again, then you go slightly deeper.

I'll get you a photo of the one in my SA 1911 about 0900 PDT. I'd consider a new part.

With the slide closed and the mag out. Raise the slide stop up and try to push it out of the frame, it should not move sideways. I have seen frames cut wrong and slide stops made wrong, either may allow the slide stop to move out of the frame.
