    CZ SP-01 or CZ P-01

I've been thinking of getting another 9mm and I want to know pros and cons to these guns. For the people who own one or have owned one, I'd like to hear your opinions on this. How's the trigger on them? How about quality and reliability? Warranty? Accuracy?

I don't have both, but I know this; The SP-01 wins a lot of USPSA matches. The SP-01, if you decide to sell it, will go for what you ask (currently anyway). The SP-01 is a known performer.

Accuracy is great. Trigger on SP-01, if you throw $100 at it, is as close to a perfect DA/SA trigger as you can find. But this might be true of the P-01 as well.

    Good luck!

I can't speak to the P-01, but it didn't take long for my SP-01 to become my absolute new favorite! As soon as she went through a few hundred rounds without the slightest hint of a hiccup, she kicked my Sig back into the safe and took over nightstand duty.

While the trigger on my 1911 may be a little crisper, the SP-01 is such a perfect fit in my hand and is just so naturally pointable it is the easiest one for me to shoot well. (It doesn't hurt that I can afford to practice more with it than I can the .45)

I can't say enough good things about this gun.

If you can find one, buy it.

Both pistols are based on similar platforms so there wouldn't be a big difference in the trigger feel & reliability and both are backed by CZ-USA's warranty. The SP-01 might have a slight edge in accuracy due to the longer sight radius.

SP-01 = 4.92" barrel, steel frame and manual safety
P-01 = 3.8" barrel, alloy frame and decocker

Both pistols are GTG, its just a matter of preference.

Well I can't speak for the SP-01 myself but I DO have, and love, my P-01!

If you want a compact, go with the P-01. If you want more of a full-size, target shooter, go with the SP-01. It's that simple because BOTH are great pistols and you can't go wrong with CZ!

I'd get sp-01 tactical if I were you. Such a great gun.

Everyone's pretty much touched up the differences between the two, but I'll add my opinion nonetheless. I had rented both the SP01 and P01 before deciding which to go with. Both shot great, but of course with the longer sight radius, the SP-01 will probably be more accurate at longer distances. They both felt great in the hand, but the one thing that made me choose the P01 over the SP01 was weight. the Sp01 is definitely heavier but it also felt a bit top heavy. It always felt as if the barrel would nose dive a bit when I tried to get back on target. Didn't like that. The P-01 though felt more balanced to me. Sure, it's still heavier than a similar compact sized Glock 19, but it just had a great balance when trying to get back on target. Now, that's just me. Someone elseo might find it too light and the SP01 perfect. You'll have to figure that out for yourself. Targetmasters in Milpitas has both along with the RAMI and regular 75b. You can try them there, but just try not to go when they're busy. THe place might scare you. Off hours or Sun mornings are best.

Grip length is the main reason I sold my P-01.

I've had an SP-01 for a while now, and can say hands down, it's the best firearm I've shot, and I've shot just about every 9mm available at 3 different ranges. Ergonomics are unparalleled, reliability has been absolutely flawless, and it was the most accurate handgun (for me), out of about 15 different common choices. It felt simply like an extension on my thoughts. It is great to shoot. Just talking about it I couldn't help myself and now I want to go to the range.

P01 is basically a somewhat of a compact, the sp01 is *very* full size.

Amongst my circle of friends all I ever heard was "get a CZ.." CZ this and that, over and over. I had always wondered what the big deal and every store seemed to be out of the SP-01 so I was never able to put one in my hands. I actually started to build up a dislike for them.

That is until I shot my buddies SP-01, it fits my hands like a it was made for it and the circle is tight. Now I know why. I love it and and am now on the wait list as well. Can'rt speak for the P-01 tho.

^^^ this... its almost similar to the G17 or G19 decision. You choosing it for the size I think.

I bought a p01 for the size but want to pick up the SP01 also to have a fullsize version of that platform.

It's funny you say that, a lot of "non-shooting" times when I pick up my SP-01, (like at home to get it out of the safe and put it on the nightstand)
I actually think to myself "Man, this thing is heavy" but when actually out shooting I never even notice it and all I think to myself is "Man, this thing is sweet".

                          Kinda' weird.

I think I would also like to get the P-01

all depends on usage. my sp-01 is for range and competition (when i actaully start going) shooting. i actually do not think the sp-01 is that big and heavy, it just feels right when shooting.
