I never had a problem with mine either, and will keep it. S&W had a recall around 1979 and reworked guns had a punch mark on the extractor. Here is a link to a parts diagram.

I had one many years ago when they first came out. It shot fine, but the grip was too big for me.

In 1979 my dept issued 59s. One of our patrol deputies got in a shoot out and his 59 only went click. The sheriff sent our armorers back to SW and they worked on learning the ins and outs of the 59. They gave the sheriff a debriefing. Bottom line the sheriff exchanged the model 59 for model 66 4" revolvers as Smith & Wesson would not refund money. Currently the deputies carry Sig in .357 sig.

standard above 10 round magazine rules haven't changed

they have 10 round magazine available for purchase

I have a second gen 439 that I've had for many years. It's been super reliable, but never terribly accurate.
Pachmayer grips help the feel a lot.

The 59 is an autoloader.

Now if the pesky roster did the right thing and went away, I wouldn't mind getting a few 59, 39, 59XX variants.
