    SIG p226 Stainless FTE problem...

I've had my p226 SSS for a few months now and it immediately began having problems with FTE once or twice every 10 round magazine. (Casing remains in chamber after round is fired...next round tries to load with empty case still in chamber causing slide to lock halfway) I sent it in to SIG and they "repaired" it and told me that the extractor was faulty and was replaced. I've since put 200 rounds through it and still get the same problem, but less frequently (Maybe once every 2-3 magazines). Has anyone else had an issue with SIG Sauer failing to repair their firearm properly? What do you guys recommend that I do in this situation? What is SIG's policy on firearms they don't/can't repair properly the first time around?

-I'm not limp wristing. Tested with multiple shooters with same result.
-I've tried several brands of ammo and different magazines.
-Gun is well cleaned and lubed with TW25 after every range visit.

Do you have the newer larger extractor?

I'd call them and with a stern (not mean) tone tell them your life depends on this pistol, you've already sent it in once and it needs to be repaired properly. Ask them send a free return label so you don't have to pay any shipping.

Dave your problem is with the magazine.

I have the same exact gun but i use mecgar p226 10 rounders and never had any problem.

the first thing i did when i got my gun was throw away the factory mags. My p226-SSS never had any problem.

I've used/and currently own both the factory magazines as well as the Mecgar ones and I get the same result.

This is what I intend to do within the week. My main concern is "What if I send it in again and they return it and I have the same problem...AGAIN."

While this shouldn't happen, but if the problem continued I would demand a new pistol! That being said, I would first talk the rep through your problems and discuss your dissatisfaction of how you've been treated well before her second trip home!

I gota ask: could it be an ammo issue? If it is failing to extract, the rim on the ammo might be a issue. I know unlikely but worth a look. I've never had a ftf/fte on either of my P226's so I know the gun has the ability to run with perfection.

                      ^This.

When you had the FTE, could you remove the mag, tip the pistol back, and would the casing fall out on its own? Or, did you have to reach in there and pull it out? I had a pistol with a "match" barrel, meaning that they made it a bit small, and was running ammo that was a bit large, but still within spec. Some would get absolutely jammed in-battery, to the point that I'd have to drive them out with a wood dowel. Something to check.

I have the exact same problem that your experiencing. What sig ended up doing is replacing the slide. Now I don't get a casing stuck in the chamber, I do get a very weak extraction on the last round. Sometimes it is so slow to extract that the slide will catch it causing a stove pipe jam. I called Sig about it and told me make sure I'm using 124gr or higer, and that Sig is a battle pistol and wasnt meant for 115gr. Sounded like a bunch of crap to me.

Last time I took out my Sig P226 stainless, I had a couple of issues with FTE. Ended up my Sig likes to run wet and I had just gotten it back from the gunsmith that specifically told me I had too much lube in the 226 and it wasn't necessary. He had cleaned it out for me and didn't put as much lube as I do on the rails. Once I relubed it at the range, had zero issues for the rest of the day. When possible, I use grease over lube.

maybe the gun is dry? sig likes to get all lubed up. i use concentrated frog lube for the slide and liquid frog lub for internals. i never had any problem with mine and its becoming my favorite handgun now.

Have you checked the brass that isn't extracting with a gage to see if they have illregular or over sized shells
