help identifying this old HI -Power

Thank you all in advance for the help. This belongs to my Sergeant and he is interested in selling it. He asked me to do some research on it. All I could get from FN was that based on the serial number, it was made pre-WWII. But the guy told me they had no records dating back that far.

I was hoping to get a factory and a year or an approximate. And a market value for it. It has no holster and only one mag. Thanks again.

and our leaders allow themselves to be spoon fed with foreign BS and have forgotten that the great majority of americans do not live in secluded gated comunities with private security 24/7 like they do, while the rest of us are subject to defending ourselves without Police escorts whenever we need it. they dont realize we are subject to different dangers than they are, and we must have and keep the right do defend ourselves!

Pre-war. No tangent rear sight, so would be a commercial/police model. FN serial dates for pre-war are practically non-existent, but numbers 1-47000 are known to be pre-Waffen stamped.

The extractor went external in '62.
"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself...A murderer is less to fear. The traitor is the plague."......Cicero

I wouldn't hesitate to buy it for $600, you want to sell it?

honestly I would put the value a bit higher, I am not even going to suggest a price as I have no idea what something like that would be worth. you might want to check gunbroker.com and see what others are going for to get a ballpark

and if you did want $600 for it....

If you post on the following 2 forums they will be able to give you detailed history from the inspection marks you presented. I suspect the guys on the Browning section of the 1911 forum will send you to the 2nd one for real detailed help from one of the experts that hang out there.

Thank you all for the help. I have to run it through the owner of the gun and see what he says.

Can someone define "pre-waffen" stamp? I assume its before the Germans took the factory.

                    $600?!? I'll take two.

That weapon is worth every bit of a grand.
I got $800 on it right now... if you're interested.

Looking at proof marks on the barrel:

"...Browning proof marks. The PV surmounted by the lion indicates the gun uses smokeless powder. "

The H with a star over might be a year code.

ELG in an oval with a crown is a Belgian proof mark.

No progress on the serial number.
