I'm about to take the plunge even though I honestly dont mind the standard grips. The rubber ones I have are better than the old checkered ones. Anyone done the transition on a W. German Sig? Did you like the new grips? Do they make the slide catch harder to get to?

The e2 grips are some of the most comfortable I have held, and feel worlds better than my old P6.In memory of Ricky Lee Turner, January 16th 2009 Baghdad Iraq

Yea I always thought they were fat grips, but never minded them since they fit my hand. I went to my local FFL and picked up 2 brand new P226's from the factory to hold and try out, they didnt have the E2 grips though. They did have the short trigger (which I cant stand, but people seem to love), but it had the SRT as well which I like. I've only got to hold a pistol with a set of them once, never got to fire it. I couldn't remember if it made the slide lock less accessible.
I have armorer knowledge, it doesn't look that difficult to put in.Comment

http://www.topgunsupply.com/sig-saue...-kit-p226.html This in particular.
The new decocker was also on the model I held yesterday, the last new sigs I've shot didnt have it or they went back to the old grips. Either way, it sounds like the SRT, a must have. Anyone else like theres?Comment

I say if you like the way your gun feels in your hand, don't change a thing.
I switched to E2 grips on my p229 because the reach to the trigger in DA was a tiny bit to far and the E2 grips improved my natural point. Also, I could get to the mag release without having to change the way I gripped. The slide catch for me is a non issue. Plus, I think the E2s look better, more modern.
Also, if you have an older model Sig, which I think most German models are, make sure you pick up a new style (short) mainspring so the E2s can fit. Im not to sure about the new style trigger bar spring because I didn't have to mess with mine but I have a newer style Sig so changing the grips was easy.Comment

The biggest difference you'll feel is that the E2 grips force your hand lower on the backstrap. I found that I preferred the Hogue aluminum/G10 grip contour for a slimmer grip, because it allowed me to maintain my higher gripLast edited by 9mmepiphany; 06-10-2012, 1:35 PM....because the journey is the worthier part...The Shepherd's TaleComment

The E2 grips personally do not fit me, I prefer the 2-piece grips. The E2 has the benefit in that the new hammer strut design actually makes the double-action a lighter pull on the same spring. It an the SRT are good upgrades to have, if it fits you right."If it wears out, replace it. If it breaks, upgrade." -Cranky Air Force Vet.

I have the E2 grips on my P229 and personally love them. Combination of the grip and texture of the E2 grips.
I just got a P226 with the old screw on grips and between the two, I still like the E2 grips but will probably keep the standard grips mostly because I like the look of the two piece grips. I also want to try out the G10 grips also since I was able to handle a 226 extreme with the G10 grips and like how they felt since they felt a bit similar than the stock grips.
I think it will come down to personal preference which will vary from person to person. I think safe bet is to see if a LGS has them for you to try.Comment

True, although I always found the grips fat. And sadly the past couple years the grips haven't gone up in quality (talking oem normal sig 2 piece grips), mine parted alot. If I want newer grips (not just the e2) to fit, I need the parts that come in that kit. I may buy it for both the parts and the grip, and hopefully the grip could be nice.
I handled it a while ago, I didn't remember it forcing my hand lower on the bore axis, but I think I've said in other posts that's how it looks. Buy if it really does then the grips look unappealing. Might just shell out for a SRT.Comment

I have about a size 7 1/2 to size 8 glove. I noticed a slight bit more comfort holding the Sig when shooting in single action. But I notice a bigger difference in my double action pull. My DA shot with the E2 grip became tighter/better than before, and I am very sure it wasn't just a placebo effect.
I had to change the main strut and main hammerspring on my West German Sig, but didn't need any spring changes on my new production Sig. My West German Sig was a CPO so it already had the more recent trigger bar spring. Since you may be changing it out on a West German Sig, make sure you order the new trigger bar spring.Last edited by Creampuff; 06-10-2012, 11:05 PM.Comment

Good to know budd. I am going to buy it since its so cheap and it gives me the parts I need to use other grips so they'll fit anyways. Its a win win. If I dont like the grips ( I think I will, everyone seems to, but you never know), then the gf I'm sure could use them. Just need to find a faq on installing that spring and the SRT!I have about a size 7 1/2 to size 8 glove. I noticed a slight bit more comfort holding the Sig when shooting in single action. Oh and I checked, do you mean the trigger return spring that has to be updated? I have a manual from Hogue here that came with the rubber grips. It has a picture of the trigger spring on the right side (non decocker) and the old one has a curve and the new one is curled like a P facing the opposite direction. Means they didnt update my spring with that service package....strange.Comment

That's correct you'll need the spring with the extra coil in the middle:Good to know budd.
