What do you consider compact. They have the 30 and 36

Glock 36 is a single stack 6-round mag I believe. It's slimmer than the Glock 30 that sports a double column 9-round mag. Please forgive me if my stats aren't completely accurate.

Glock refers to their G19/23 frames as compact. Thanks.

The G36 is basically the same physical size... The G30, G30SF and G36 are all compact .45 acp Glocks.

No, they're not. Glock 30/36 are subcompacts with two finger grooves on the grip instead of the 3 grooves found in the G19/23 models

My 30 is the same size as the 19 I used to have, maybe a little thicker. The 36 if thinner but close to the same size as the 19.

I owned all discussed, the G36 is shaped slightly differently for obvious reasons but are nearly the same size and can share some holsters.

I want a 45 with a short barrel but a good size grip for large hands. Glock does not make such an animal.

I find that my G30sf with a Pearce grip extension on the magazine effectively makes for a comfortable grip. If you need any bigger, stick with a regular G30 and maybe a Hogue slip-on rubber sleeve.

Compact as used when referring to a Glock has a specific meaning. It's no longer the dictionary defination that matters, it is how the term is officially used by Glock when referring to their own products.

It is not about the "size" in terms of actual physical dimensions and measurements. They mean both the size and shape of the frame.

The top gun would be a Compact, while the bottom would be a Sub-Compact. Dimentions wise they are pretty much the same, but if you look at just the grip surface area it become clear which is which. Compact has more surface grip area than the Subcompacts.

Don't believe me? Just ask Glock. Here is the official size chart for Glock. They refer to G23 as a Compact and the G36 as a Subcompact Slimline. http://us.glock.com/products/all

Confusion on this issue is normal. But to me it matters. It makes discussions like this one easier if everybody is using the same vocabulary.

I want a compact frame and subcompact barrel.

I just got a Glock 36 new for free and was prepared to hate it / sell it as soon as I'd tried a few rounds. Was expecting the grip to be too small and it be a snappy shooter.

WRONG on all fronts. The grip was ok, not to small (like to stupidly small Kahr P380) and it shot pretty smooth. No problems with mag finger pinching. Nice solid recoil which is very easy to control and does not prevent fast followup shots. No pain, no snap, lots of fun. Blew 100 rounds through it in a few minutes.

Suggest looking at this one as it really is not as bad as all the complaining suggests.
