Question about selling my dad's handgun

In 2009, My dad gave me his handgun he purchased. I never bothered to submit the intrafamiliar transfer paperwork since I kept it at his house mostly. I want to sell it via ppt tomorrow, my dad is unable to make it to the gun store for the transfer.

I just realized the handgun is still registered to him. What are my options? Can I print out the intrafamiliar xfer form and bring it to the ppt? Or can I just sell it as if I am the owner? Don't want to cause the buyer any headache or waste his time with a failed transfer.

Im totally trolling here, but I would never sell a gun my father gave me. Never get rid of something the two of you shared together. just my 2 cents...

I'm pretty sure the registered owner must be the one to sell it.

they're not worried about the seller. its the buyer who's butt they crawl up. what if you're selling a gun owned before the Nanny wrote down your name?
unless it's stolen you should be good.
I'm with the other poster to think twice about selling something from dear old dad.But it's your stuff.

Just show up at the Gun Store (FFL) and sell it. Bring your California Drivers Lic.

            That's all you need.

For all paperwork, you ARE the Seller.

Thanks for clarifying, guys. This particular gun is just a tool and he is all for selling it. He just doesn't have time to do the transfer himself.

I'm going to use the funds to buy him a nice fathers day gift.

Sounds like you're making a good decision. Just bring your drivers license & don't say anything more than you need to.
