Davidson's GofG -- how does it work?

I'm going to buy a Glock 19. I've never bought online, so I have some question. I went to Gallery of Guns, Gun Genie. Found the Glock 19 w/ 10 round mags. When it searches and comes up with a local dealer -- am I correct that dealer is signed up with Davidson's and their FFL is on file? There were a half dozen LGS's that came up; and I chose one I have dealt with before. I paid the deposit.

Question: In your experience, how long does it take for them to ship to my LGS?

Question: Do I wait for it to come in; and I will be notified?

I know I cannot start the DROS until they have the gun in hand.

Any LGS that they list is fine of course. The LGS sells the gun to you. I think Davidsons is the wholesaler so they are just listing where you can get the gun, which will come from Davidson's warehouse.

What I did was, choose my gun, check the LGS that were listed, picked the lowest priced one and ordered it. The LGS called me the next day, he even said that since he has the serial number on hand, he could start DROS on it for me, but I couldn't come in that day. Then it's basically the same as if you bought it from that LGS. If something is wrong with the gun, you bring it to that LGS and they'll deal with Davidsons.

So in terms of DROS until gun in hand, I'm not sure if that's true or they just need the serial number. I suppose for the sake of doing it right, they would normally want the gun in hand to make sure the serial number matches the actual gun they are giving you.

For me it was a smooth transaction. Well ALMOST smooth because when I went to the LGS to start DROS, I also bought a consignment gun they had there LOL! SO it cost me extra!

You are correct. The LGS is a retailer for Davidson's. The LGS and Davidson's has a contract in place, and you as the consumer, just purchase directly from Davidson's and the LGS does the rest. The markup and everything like that is already on paper, etc.

They ship FedEx or UPS, so it has to be second-day.

It all depends on the LGS. My LGS e-mailed me and let me know they received the order and will let me know when the gun comes in so I can go inspect it and start the paperwork.

It depends on the LGS. For mine, they started the process before the gun got there, because they were long guns.

Thanks for the replies. First time in 42+ years I've bought this way. I know the guys at this LGS and respect them. I'm sure they will call or email me as soon as the order info gets to them from Davidson's. Sometimes a person has to try a new way when they are more comfortable with the old fashioned shopping experience in the LGS. I figure I'll come out paying about the same. Seems like Davidson's is well fitted when you know exactly what you want and don't need to feel it in your hand first.

Thanks, the info helped me understand the process.

I do believe that any firearm purchased that came from Davidsons is warrantied for life even if you part ways with it.

Yes but you have to register it with them in order to get the warranty.

You're gonna be stoked. The best thing about GoG is you get a truly NIB gun, completely unfondled by Joe Public.

I've used GoG twice and both times I got a great deal and the gun was shipped out within a day or so.

Would I be correct to assume the dealer will charge fee's as if I bought from them, and won't be charged extra for dealer transfer?

This is the way the cost/fee breakdown is supposed to work. I directly copied this from my order.

I think what is balance due is all the dealer collects nothing more. That's why you notice every dealer has different additional fee amount. But there is no plus additional fees besides what is already in the balance due.
