Were those moly coated? I've personaly ruined a barrel with raw lead. I shot 200 rounds and the barrel bulged slightly. So it's not a good idea to shoot a lot of lead without between cleanings of a Glock barrel.

If those were moly coated can you let me know if you are able to shoot 200 rounds without any damage between cleanings?

      Thanks
Before there was Polymer there was Accuracy.

I shoot Moly Coated yes. I shoot 200+ rounds at a time with no issues. I used to be paranoid because of all the internet talk and run a bore snake every stage but realized it was a non issue. At the end of the day 200 or so rounds 1 pull of the bore snake has the barrel looking cleaner then with FMJ bullets.

I am not sure how you bulged a barrel with shooting lead. I do have swaged lead for my 1911 and maybe being so soft would be an issue in a Glock factory barrel but I only use Moly as of now.

10 rounds does not a valid test make.
I'm retired. That's right, retired. I don't want to hear about the cop who stopped you today or how you didn't think you should get a ticket. That just makes me grumpy!

Is the long barrel a 17L barrel ~ 6 inches in the video? If it is then it would be news if it didn't work.

I guess we would have to film the entire match that lead up to that. I shoot 200 rounds per match then the video was taken.

Obviously I agree that the barrel should be cleaned when shooting lead but 1 pull of a bore snake every few hundred rounds seems to be good enough.

Yes, but he already cranked about 12,000 rounds of Bear Creek 230gr molys thru that gun before the video.

A 9" will run too, same as the G17L barrel, just longer.

This question actually came up in another thread. Was there actual range time to show the 9" barrel cycles? It would be good to know.

I guess the point is that the barrel length has no impact on the guns function. These are straight walled barrels and nut bull barrels like on some 1911's so the lock up isnt dependent like it is on a tapered barrel.

Barrel length would make no difference, but there is a point at which the weight would prevent the gun from cycling reliably. And it would not need to be much heavier than the weight of 4.5 inches of extra barrel.
