Thinking about picking one of these up as a cheap blaster and possibly home defense gun. I like that it's a Glock 19 clone, is OR and has changeable backstraps. Anybody have one and can provide some insights?

Derya DY9

I've one. Bought it as a HD gun uses G19 magazines. Because of the price I think of it as my Bic lighter, disposable when used for its intended use. Does as it should at the range.👍 1 -
Yes, "disposable" is a good word. Ironically I once thought of Glocks that way. Little did we know.Comment

I have a DY9. I've only shot it once but it did great. I also have a G19, I like the Derya's grip better and the stock Derya trigger is a bit better than the stock G19 trigger. Supposedly Derya is re-imagining some of their Glock clones to get back onto the Commifornia roster now that AB1127 is in effect. I think they seem to be a solid, cheap pistol. I need some more range time to make a better informed evaluation about long term reliability, but it's definitely a good pistol for the $299 Turners had them for. Especially now that stock Gen 3 G19s are selling for nearly $1,000 in gun stores.NRA Certified Metallic Cartridge Reloading Instructor, Shotgun Instructor and Range Safety Officer

Yes, I thought the same about Glocks. Bought an agency trade in and thought if I don't like it ai could always sell it later. I've three now and considering what they're going for I'll hang on to them.Last edited by Grendel Guy; 08-29-2026, 4:10 PM.Comment

Glock will never be the absolute best pistol for the money in 2026, it feels like they've been passed up by most of their competition as far as features and innovation. I just bought the Springfield Echelon 4.0 C, it's really just a better Glock, very similar features but better grip angle, its optics ready, ambi, better sights, gas pedal is stock, trigger is much better
and it cost the same as my G19 or within a few bucks. My H&K VP9 is a better G17, cost considerably more but its a plastic striker fired 9mm, really fundamentally the same, just better trigger and it's less ugly. My Walther PDP Compact is a G19 but better grip and trigger and optics ready, better sights.
Nothing wrong with Glocks, they'll always be a good choice but as far as innovation, they stopped innovating decades ago and they aren't that cheap either. I like my G19, but so far, I like my Derya, Springfield, Walther and H&K better for various reasons. The Derya doesnt have the track record or name but it was almost half the price and has a better grip and trigger. So Glock has been surpassed by cheaper and more expensive guns. They're not Glocks, but these days, that's not a bad thing. I will hang onto my G17 and G19 but shooting them isn't as fun as these others.NRA Certified Metallic Cartridge Reloading Instructor, Shotgun Instructor and Range Safety Officer

Turner's website shows there's 10+ in stock and I think there's a way to order/pick up in store but I've never tried it that way. If you click on "Find in Store" it shows a lot of "Limited Availability" at a lot of locations and that means they have a few left. Just call ahead to make sure. For $330 I don't think you can go wrong.

I think the deal is that dealers are allowed to sell off all of their existing stock. But once these are gone, they are gone, no more coming. Get one while you can!NRA Certified Metallic Cartridge Reloading Instructor, Shotgun Instructor and Range Safety Officer

Check out the long thread from late last year and early this year. Good info & pics in there.
Yes, I've had one on deposit with Turners for a few months now. I wrote to Derya USA but no response. It took Turners six months to receive my Walther PDP Compact, hopefully they can deliver a few DY9s before January 1st when AB-1127 will kick in. Anyone get a Rostered one in their hands yet? I have no idea if Derya has shippedComment
