Seems like a budget friendly , entry level gun for a person unsure of a higher priced investment. My 1st was a LLama back in 1980. It convinced me that I needed to move up in the 1911 world.

Aren't all of the 1911s on the roster old entries that are grandfathered in? Have never seen a 1911 with an MDM and LCI.

Not on the roster. Only Girson's are p35's and a .380.

^^^I haven't seen a 1911 with the 'features' you cite either Capy, I was thinking the onus was on the manufacturer to provide a sample for initial evaluation. I may be mistaken. If a firearm that was deemed safe then the firearm has a color change necessitating a p/n change it's over again.

There's a few "new" Kimber models on the roster. An alloy 9mm is one, the LW "Ghost."
