Who makes the preferred 1911 22LR conversion kit?

Title says it, I'm considering getting one of these just wondering who makes the official calguns approved model.

My Tactical Solutions unit is very reliable. Can be had with a scope rail or adjustable iron sights. Midway should have them soon or call Tactical Solutions

    where are my pistol mags?

I like the Tactical Solutions with rail as pictured because you can easily run a red dot on it if that's what you want. I own the Kimber with target sights and have used it on my TLE RLII frame, generally good for intro to new shooters. I had to strip it down and thoroughly clean it, re-lube it to function flawlessly (had some light rim/primer strikes prior to doing this).

Have you given any thought about the .17mach2 conversion kit? I use the Kimber kit on my Kimber classic custom and enjoy it very much so. The upper slide is match grade with adjustable rear sights. It's also very easy to clean. The only downer was that it has taken about 400-500 round to break it in. I think I paid around $289 two years ago for it when it first came out. So I give a big thumbs up to the Kimber .17mach2 conversion kit.

Ciener & Kimber kits are both very good (both are made by Ciener). I've heard the Marvel kits are the best thing going, but haven't used them extensively enough to comment so for sure.

I believe Kimber has been making their own conversions for the past couple of years.

Ahh that's entirely possible I guess, I haven't handled the Kimber kits in a while, I know they were at one time made by Ciener.

My Marvel unit 1 was great reliable and accurate. My unit 2 not so reliable even with the ammo it likes the best. Plus I still need to send it back ran out of sight adjustment and it's still hitting high.

                      From most accurate to least:
For bulsleye accuracy- Marvel Unit 1
The Marvel Unit 2 is more of a practical until- not quite as expensive and doesn't come with an accuracy guarantee.
The Wilson conversion is a relabeled Unit 2.
The ceiner, Kimber and advantage arms units are all on about the same accuracy level.

The Tac Sol unit is newer and I haven't seen enough reviews to comment.

Prices range quite a bit, so the question of what you want to use the unit for should be addressed prior to us giving too much direction.

Tactical Soultions unit is the most reliable I have seen. I've know several people with Marvel units and they all swear by different mags citing reliability but none are 100% satisified.

My Tactical Solution units runs 99.9% (nothing is 100%). I shot over 350 rounds of Federal Auto Match one afternoon last year before the Steel Challenge without one failure.
                        where are my pistol mags?

My Marvel Model 2 was very picky with ammo. So much so that I sold it and got a Kadet for my CZ to replace it. I think the Model 1 would be more reliable because it's not trying to move the entire slide.

TMC's Tactical Solutions is the gold standard now. They should hopefully be in regular production after SHOT. After that, it's kinda up for grabs. The Marvel's are good, but with Bob Marvel (original designer) out of the picture, word is that recent runs are sketchy.

Cierner's are supposed to be good, but in a sick twist, they run better with their 15 round mags than their 10's. Go figure.

Had a Kimber and it sucked big time. May have been the ammo, but I don't think it was.

I'll be getting a TacSol upper soon for my Viper Open gun.

Put a few hundred rounds through my Kimber kit without problems, as long as your 1911 isn't super customized it will work great.
