HANDGUN DILEMMA!

Just turned 21. Please help me decide my handgun! I need something that I can hunt and defend myself from being hunted (bears, zombies, mini Rosies, etc) and complement my .44 Mag Winchester 94 Trapper. I would like it to be relatively light weight, easily carried, reliable (of course) and cooooooool... or something

(Side note: The M444 Ultralite is not on the KA "non-approval" list, but I have the opportunity to pick it up from my friend that bought one and might not want it any longer)

I can't wait to finish out my setup! I want to have a horizontal kydex sheath for my Bushman knife, a crossdraw holster for the revolver and my levergun in the right hand. Perfect hunting and hiking setup!

i say go with the lightest one that'll shoot everytime you go bang... since your rifle will be your primary means of defense, you'll only use the handgun when you either run out of rounds and have no time to reload, therefore switching to you sidearm, or if for some reason you didn't have access to your rifle while hunting (taking a whizz, etc.)

Hey if you want lightand the ability to look real cool Real .44mag pain is a ruger vacaro(Single action) with a 3 finger cowboy grip, talk about a handfull!

I've always liked the Ruger Super Blackhawks for accuracy and strength and they would match your lever gun better. They are not much for speed loading, but if you can't solve your problem with six rounds of 240-grain softpoints, you need to rethink your options.

I own a tracker .44 mag and it's a nice gun. I gave it a trigger job to make it alittle smoother.It is pretty acurate and the adjustable sights are nice.All around the tracker is a very good package for the price. I think I got out the door for about $540 tax and dros included.But if you have the money for the S&W go for it, they are alot nicer guns and it will hold a higher resale value.If it was me I would hold each of them then you decide wich will fit you best.

The (Super) Redhawks and (Super) Blackhawks are cool but they are kinda heavy and it is a pain in the *** to find one in the barrel length I want. I think the best compromise is the Smith and Wesson 629 with the 5" barrel, but those are kind of rare.

I really want to get good with a pistol (Thank God I have a semi and a revolver in .22 already.) I just have to figure out how good I want to be with it.....

The Superblackhawk would be cool in a 4.6" barrel like they have on gun broker but I want this gun as a backup for "Where the Wild Things Are", if you catch my drift. True, it would complement my levergun better, being of classic styling but I just dunno....

If you can find a range that rents out handguns go there and try some out before buying. Or what may end up happening is that you purchase on an impulse and get something that you may not like then turn around a month later trying to sell it here on Calguns. Hey don't get me wrong there is nothing wrong with that. It is just that I see this happening time and time again with people here. Here's another tip for you, try to purchase within your means. Try not to buy a bunch of stuff (i.e guns, Playstation, X-Box) with credit cards and dig yourself in a deep hole of debt. I am just trying to share some wisdom with you and in no way telling how to live your life. Good luck on your search for that perfect 44.
