So I was shooting this pistol, all was going great until it wasn't. I emptied out my mag, went to drop it and nada? I push the button and wiggle the gun...nothing. I tap the bottom of the mag see if it was just misaligned, still nothing. I lock my slide back, push the button again, I try prying on the mag but can't get a real good grip on it. I palm the side of the grips to no avail. Having the slide locked I decide to just push the mag out from the inside...it loosens but still does not drop free??? Now there is enough sticking out the bottom that I can grab so I pull it out. My first reaction was to look inside the gun and nothing appeared suspect. I put the gun down, start looking at the mag and I see this small piece of mag peeled back. Have no idea what happened, I never run and gun so I don't drop my mags on the ground. These guns only come with one mag so I keep it stored in it's case. It's gone in easy every single time before. Only thing I can think of is that the material strength and construction of the mag are it's weakness. The mag thickness seems kinda thin and the seam where this piece peeled back may not be very strong...I don't know...I'm just guessing here. Could have been a bad day if it had happened while defending my family from rogue chipmunks. I can just file that piece off I suppose and test it out.

They take glock mags right? If so just use glock mags I've never seen one break -
Something in the pistol is not right, I shoot Glocks and that has not ever happened to my Glock mags, but then again I was not there. Hope it works out and you get an improvement soon.Vida Loca Homes

Go for it. The mag might get stuck again but you know how to get it out.
I'm just guessing, but to me, it looks like the magazine was over inserted and smacked the bottom of the feed ramp. I've never handled a Derya through so again it's just a guess.

I posted some pictures and mentioned that the DY9 lining inside of the grip where the magazine slides up against is pretty "rough" compared to a Glock, and that taking a file might be needed if you noticed some mag sticking or if it won't drop free, but ymmv.
Between the spring and mag body, the DY9 mag just looks more flimsy than a G19 mag, but the G19 mag really doesn't fit into the DY9 with magwell unless you change out the baseplate. I bought extra DY9 baseplates from Derya and put them onto some G19 mags and they work and drop perfectly. However, I found that just using G17 sized mags is better since the nothing needs to be changed and the G17 baseplate barely hangs lower than the DY9 magwell, enough to grab the mag and yank it out if it gets stuck but not enough to really tell you're running an extended mag and it doesn't hit your palm while shooting.

OP I had a Glock mag that the plastic peeled away like yours. It was a smaller chunk and the mag still worked in the gun. I think the plastic broke from the mag being dropped on concrete. You might want to avoid dropping mags to the ground. Even though my mag still worked I threw it away as I didn't want to take any chances with it.Comment

Update, sorry it's taken a while. So I did remove that broken piece off the mag, I tried it and all functions perfect in regards to the mag seating and dropping free. By the way, just putting this out, I do not run and gun nor do I ever drop my mags on dirt, concrete, in water etc and I don't subscribe to slamming any mag to the point of over insertion. My issue now is that the gun is locking up about every third or fourth dummy round (haven't been back out to the range due to weather and schedule). I load the mag with five dummy rounds cycle the gun like normal and all of a sudden it is locked. The trigger won't function and the slide locks up so I then have to drop the mag, force the slide to move just enough to be able to release it, slide it of the pistol, and remove the dummy round. Aside from not ejecting the round, I can't see anything else in the slide that could be at fault. The frame/trigger on the other hand are still locked up, so I begin to wiggle here, wiggle there, insert the empty mag, wiggle some more, pull the trigger, push to reset the trigger, wiggle again and voila...it's free and working again. I reassemble the two halves, reload the mag, insert it, rack the slide, pull the trigger, rack the slide, it ejects, cycle it a couple more times, and then it happens...it's locked again... I have inspected the firing pin, breech face, feed ramp, firing pin plunger, magazine well, trigger shoe/safety, mag follower/spring, but I haven't been able to figure it out? I do have a second DERYA DY9 that I bought at the same time which works fine and I have been referencing, however, I must be overlooking something?Comment

Question ~ Is the mfg willing to Accept the pistol ? If so, I would send it back and describe everything that’s going on.Vida Loca Homes

I wuld have to ask. I bought it through Turner's Outdoorsman. I had to send back a Ruger Super Red Hawk Alasan a couple years ago for barrel and some bad tooling marks, but it all went through Turner's...I was not given any contact info or updates as Turner's became the client since they filed the warranty claim. I would imagine I can send it bak, but again...Turner's will be the client and I would just get a call when and if I could pick up the pistol.Comment

There might be a bunch of paperwork, but Turners should be able to send it back for repair. Good Luck and hope it gets resolved. 👍Vida Loca Homes

Yeah, the paperwork is not bad at all. I bought it in December so there won't be any issues sending it back.👍 2Comment

Wow, that really disappointing. I bought a couple of extra DY9 mags, I'll have to keep an eye on mine for that. Hopefully they have good customer service. They are trying to build a U.S. brand presence, you would think they'll take great care of you.NRA Certified Metallic Cartridge Reloading Instructor, Shotgun Instructor and Range Safety Officer

Can swap the good slide on the bad frame (and vise versa) and try to recreate the problem. Maybe it'll help identify where the problem is.Comment

I'm sure Derya will accept it for warranty work, but reach out to them first and make sure they are willing to ship the pistol back to you.
