A non pistol grip for pistols

I'm wondering if such a thing exists (like a Hammerhead for ARs). I ask because I was told that a pistol like a C96 or a Tommy pistol because of the stock grip) used together with a detachable magazine that is not in the grip makes it an assault weapon.

C96 has a fixed mag fed from the top with stripper clips…but I get what you mean. Maybe a kydex fin?

I don't think that would change anything. The mag would still be outside the grip area, you just changed the grip.

The Assault Weapon law in California on handguns that supposedly meet that nonsense term do not have a designation for trigger below the 'web of hand' line as do long guns. It's different.

It bans handguns with a magazine well outside of the grip. So even if you could put a grip-wrap or Monster Man grip on a handgun, it would not change the fact that is the grip and the magazine well is outside of the grip.

I suppose you could go with no grip at rear all, and make the magwell the grip area, but now you've got to get it on the Roster too.

Well since I can't use it legally, I guess I won't be buying an optic for the Tommy pistol.Maybe in the future when I'm dead and gone my sons will.
