Great little gun. Great for varmint hunting and handgun sillouette shooting on smaller targets. If I could afford it, I'd probably pick up one of these in one of the larger calibers. I fired one in 7mm-08 some time ago, manageble recoil with that. 221 fireball should be a fun little blasting round.

#1 on the reloading. Pretty sure it takes standard .224 diameter bullets, cases pretty easily avialable & cheap. Note: I shoot a 416 Rigby - all is relative on "easily available & cheap".

I have an XP in 223 - check out GunBroker for XP 100 and you'll find all sorts of variations. The nylon stocked 221 is their older entry level and should easily be a 150 yard performer.

I just sold a Rem XP100 in 223 last summer. They are good little varmint guns and as accurate as you can hold them.

            I had one years ago.
Someone offered me $200 more than I had paid and I stupidly sold it...
It took me almost 5 years to replace it, but luckily I am still ahead as the replacement was a bargain compared to today's prices on them.

If you get one, get an OLD one.
The new ones are big heavy repeaters.
The OLD ones are dainty little single shots.

I've had my XP since the mid 1970's and have had a lot of fun with it keeping the groundhog population in check. Best summer total was 58 groundhogs, 3 coyotes, 5 feral cats, and one feral dog.

It's the original model with the nylon stock and vent rib barrel.
I'm on the third scope now a, Leupold 2.5-8x. Not because the gun hurts the scope but because scopes get better.
I put on sling swivels for easier field carry and a Harris bipod mounts to the front swivel.
The .221 Fireball is a very forgiving cartridge to reload and will handle .224 bullets with the lighter bullets being a bit more accurate in my pistol.
If you do reload, and should happen to shoot in subzero temperatures, don't use Blue Dot. Almost any powder will turn in acceptably accurate loads.

It's funny, the only Remington products I own are the XP-100 and a Model 51.

Go on GenLee buy it. Give it a good home.
