One of my favorite ones that got away was a Super Redhawk in 44 mag I had 10 or 15 years ago, that had custom antler grips and some action tuning. I sold it for a profit and needed the money at the time, but I sure wish I still had it. I have a pile of single actions of various types and shoot them often, but for any sort of "work", DA wins me over unless it's a deer or pig hunt. Now I don't even own anything in 44 other than a ruger carbine I want to sell (with a bunch of ammo) and shoot almost all 45 Colt now.

Simple Question: Which DA or SA .44 Magnum Revolver To Buy

The grips on the S&W are Altamont Bateleur grips (I tried several others before settling in on these).
Prior to the plug, the gun locked up on me on rare occasions with full power magnums. Not a good time for it to lock up. After the plug it has been flawless.Comment

Most people at my range shooting silhouettes used either the DW or a Blackhawk. I went with the 10.5" Blackhawk, due in large part to cost. But always wanted one of the DW's.

Can’t go wrong with a 29 or 629. I used to have a Ruger super Blackhawk, but it was the Bisley model and the overbent grip design about broke my wrist. Rugers are IMO a stronger design, but I find that the S&W is more accurate. 6EF0253A-73F9-4F3D-B817-EC7DD15FA2A0.jpg👍 2Comment

Go big or go home: 40 year old Redhawk 5.5", Hogue hard Monogrip, Millett rear sight, Bullseye spring kit, 300gr Sierra JSP, many grains of H110.👍 1Comment

I personally absolutely hate the way a single action grip feels under heavy recoil and sold off both of the Ruger Super Blackhawks I had in the past. I much prefer the shape of a double action grip frame and the only .44 magnum handguns I shoot are Smith and Wesson N frames. I would also consider a Ruger Redhawk if I found one at the right price.
Save money and buy used if you can find the right deal. Last year I picked up a very nice 1978 nickel plated Model 26, with the original presentation case for $1300. I negotiated the price down from the $1500 the seller was asking because the blue flocking had deteriorated completely.

I bought a flocking kit and restored the interior for about $20 including tax and shipping.

If 44 mag wasn't so expensive to shoot I'd buy a anaconda👍 1Comment

Just bite the bullet and get a Colt. I just picked up a Kodiak and this beast is amazing. Its honestly like a piece of jewelry. The action is so buttery smooth. Definitely a fire breathing monster but pretty much every 44 mag revolver is.👍 2Comment
