    MC Operator back from SA

I sent my MC Operator back to SA to get the front strap checkered in 30 LPI, a bit of the beavertail blending, and to have the frame refinished in black to match the slide (never did like the OD green). I sent it off on 10-31-25 and got it back today. Everything looks fantastic! Put a set of checkered SA grips on and it's good to go.

That looks way better refinished. There’s a pawnshop around here that has one for 1000 bucks. I was thinking about taking a look at it.

Very nice. I've been thinking about sending my Loaded for the front strap checkering.

I have an MC Operator. If you don't mind answering, what did Springfield charge you to do all of that? I didn't know you could send your Springfield off to them for custom work, cool! Oh, and how did you ship it to them and how did they ship it back to you?

The total was $345.77 and that included shipping both ways. I inquired about their custom services via e-mail, and they provided info on what they offered. When I decided to go forward, they sent me a FedEx shipping label (very cool of them) and I dropped it off at a local FedEx hub. I shipped it on 11-03-25 and it was delivered to my house by FedEx on 12-04-25. The process was super easy, and the work is excellent.

I’ll be buying a MC operator soon, maybe a TRP or LB ~ still making up my mind.

That’s a very nice looking 1911. SA sure has a lot of experience with working on the old gal.

              Very nice indeed.

Sounds very reasonable, and easy. Win-win.

Thanks for responding. For custom gun work done to that high of a level, that's pretty reasonable. Your MC looks great that way.

Looks good. The main reasons why I never wanted to pick up the MC Operator was the green frame and no FSC. Now that I see Springfield offers this service, and at a decent price, I'm now interested in picking one up to have this done (among a few other things).

What kind of finish did they use? I prefer an armor kote like the TRP, but wasn't sure if they just cerakoted it or use a different finish.

Very reasonably priced for that amount of work.👍🏻

I also like the green frame, it was a pistol in support of the USMC ~ I don’t know if it even went to the testing but it was a tribute. The MC Operator is ( supposedly ) just 1 step below the TRP.

I think it's cerakote. It's the same finish that's on the slide from the factory.

Looks great and a very fair price, nice.

I really doubt its cerakote, the original finish on the slide and frame is not cerekote. But if it is you will know soon enough, it will wear off quickly. That is if you actually use/shot the gun and I’m guessing you will.

Just looked and they are indeed using a cerekote finish on them now, that’s disappointing.

I had some work done on my shotgun…Benelli was 85 an hours for the effort….seems reasonable.

That gun looks great OP…that price seems reasonable as well. Wonder what their “hourly” is or if they do piece work pricing.
