Sig P229 questions

my p229 is da/sa, but there are a few different models with different triggers on them. Not really too much to it if you're experienced with pistols. I love mine. DA is kinda heavy but smooth, SA is really sweet. Haven't had one FTF or FTE have about 2k rounds through it. -
Sig 229s have been sold in SA/DA, DA (super rare), and DAK.
SA/DA has a decocking lever next to the slide stop.
DAK has two clicks during trigger reset while DA has one.
If it is DAK then just treat it like a DA gun, but be aware that it will fire again from the first reset point.Comment

There's nothing you need to know outside what the manual says. Easy to disassemble, great single action trigger and great weight balance. One piece of advice though, use grease on the rails, barrel, and guide rod.Comment

The important safety thing to remember is to use the de-cocker to de-cock the hammer and not to lower it by pressing the trigger...that would defeat one of it's safety features.
Make sure his right, assuming he is a righty, thumb is atop the left thumb and not on the slide stop. Since you're very experienced, I'll take it for granted that you are going to teach him to use the thumbs forward grip and to press the trigger with the middle of the first pad of his finger and not the first crease.
If his 229 is a DAK gun, just teach him to shoot it like a revolver...because the journey is the worthier part...The Shepherd's TaleComment

The best thing you can do is have him fire every shot DA until he gets comfortable with it...just run it like a revolver. It isn't hard and will make him a better overall shooterOriginally posted by Snoopy47I just read the DA trigger is 10 pounds per the manual. Seriously? I just want to get him comfortable with his own gun....because the journey is the worthier part...The Shepherd's TaleComment
