    Shadow systems vs Glock

Are Shadow systems guns worth the money they are charging? Or just get a glock?

Own a Glock 19 AND just got a Shadow Systems DR920 Comp. After a PSA upper and Glock store 3 pound trigger it is a fantastic carry gun. But, still blocky ergonomics. But almost as much $into it a the 920.

Shadow has fantastic feel, quality build and as it wears in for the recommended 200 round break in its getting better and better...Get both!😁

If you're looking for something affordable basic and don't care about a red dot get a gen 3 now before it's too late. If you're looking to buy a glock then trick it out down the road buy the shadow systems it will be cheaper and less hassle

I checked them out quite a bit before buying my G19. Shadow Systems look good, have a nice feature list, if you are the kind to trick out a Glock. For me, I'll be carrying my G19 so I won't bother tricking it out and in the end, even a highly modded Glock trigger is still subpar to my PX4 Storm with the Langdon trigger, CZ75B with a spring kit or my 1911. I like Glocks but in the end, to me, Shadow Systems is like having a Civic and tricking it out. It might look cooler but in the end, its still a Civic.

I just pickup up a Shadow Systems MR920 last week. I was planning to get a Glock 19 and the add an MOS slide with a total cost of about $825. My dealer was selling the MR920 for $869 (they seem to usually sell for $969) plus there currently is a $100 rebate thru 10/31/25. This brought the total price to $769 plus all the CA crap taxes and fees. At this price, the MR920 was a no brainer. Even at the regular price with the $100 rebate ($869), I think the SS is worth it, especially if you want an optics cut. If I had to pay the regular price with no discounts of $969, I am not sure the gun is worth the extra cost even though it does have a bunch of cool features that the Gen 3 Glocks do not have.

Just to add, I took the SS MR 920 to the range yesterday to shoot for the 1st time. Put about 400 rounds through it and it ran flawlessly. It felt better in my hands and has better grip texture than the Gen 3 Glocks. Trigger was similar to the Glock, fine but not great. The slide cuts and front serrations look cool, but for me, did not add anything to the shooting experience. The SS has a much better optics cut than the MOS Glocks. Many different red dots can be mounted without the need for a plate. (I mounted a Holosun EPS Carry to mine. It can be mounted directly to the slide but in order to have a finished look, I bought a spacer from Shadow Systems that goes underneath and fills in the gaps at the front and back of the optic. The EPS Carry still mounts directly into the slide so it should be super secure.)

How does Springfield Echelon comp compared to Shadow systems? Doesn't echelon have everything that shadow offers for less?

Range time with dr920/comp. Jam almost every round with factory 115 grain. No mention found in literature that came with the gun. Website FAQ stated 200 round break in with +p ammo. Pricey! But had some 147 grain Winchester silvertip sitting around. 150 rounds in Jams became less frequent including rapid fire. Will clean and oil then finish break in.

I've been shooting 115 Winchester range ammo without any issues

Try with the lighter spring (15 lbs vs 18lbs it comes with)

no experience with shadows, but they're essentially based off 3rd gens, no? i generally burn through few boxes standard 124 grn fmj with new glocks; iirc, awhile back glock cs was mentioning as much. there's also weaker 115 target ammo out there that will cause issues with tight new subcompacts in particular. an example is difference in fps specs between fed champion 115 grn compared to fed american eagle in same weight.
