    Wow, still within specs though....

I was out banging away with my now favorite DW 357 and I get a BANG, BANG, BANG, BANG, click, BANG. I thought to myself "aw crap not this again" and upon further inspection I found this (see pictures). SAMMI lists the rim thickness standards as .011 to .060 (http://www.saami.org/PubResources/CC...7%20Magnum.pdf) but still, that's a damn thin rim and it was thin enough for my DW not to touch it off.

    That ain't right...

Actually the spec is .060 -.011. Meanining that min thickness is .049 and it can be no thicker than .060.

Did you try a second strike on it?

Ah, thanks for the correction. My mechanical schematic reading skills aren't as good as my electrical schematic skills.

Looks like you got a good hit on the primer. I wonder why it didn't go off? I would contact StarLine. I'm sure that they would want to know and they will probably throw some free brass your way.

My 15-2 strikes farther off center than that. Frame mounted FP, not a whole you can do about it. Always goes bang.

My DW is quirky and only likes Federal, Buffalo Bore, and Speer ammo. It particularly hates Starline brass. Head space is ok and I've replaced the mainspring, firing pin spring, hand spring, and tore it down to the frame and scrubbed the crap out of it. but for whatever reason she just likes the thicker rims.

Just an update. After I got a hold of an HPR rep they asked for lot number and all that jazz, said they would send me a return box for the defective round and give me a free box to boot. I still have not heard word from them since May 23rd and HPR is not returning my emails. Guess HPR is now on my do not buy list. Too bad since they go out of their way to be a completely made in the USA company.

I've had the same thing happen with other companies and I call it the "Pillsbury Doughboy" customer interface. That is, defuse the situation by agreeing with everything that the customer says, promise them whatever they want, then do nothing. About all you can do is keep pestering them and being a general pain.
