    scalloped rail cut

Saw the pictures on the 226 rails in a private sales threat titled "WTS Rare Variant Guns: M1 HRA Garand Correct & P226 in SoCAL". I actually thought about asking for something like it when building a custom 1911. The tight frame rails in a high end 1911 could really benefit from this design, in my opinion. No only does it provide a place for debris to collect (therefore enhancing reliability), it also can hold extra lube. Anyone knows why no one is doing it?

Some have reported it making the frame weaker, resulting in some cracking. Sig also stopped this design in the early 90's.
