    1st generation glock 17 OK?

I know that you can purchase the current glock 17 on the approved list, but can I purchase a first generation from out of state, and assuming that I cannot import the original 17 mags, will the current 3rd genration 10 round mags fit into it?
So would I have to purchase the gun without any mags?
    Thanks,
    HVR

    AG's answer

Since no one replied to my question, I called the attorney generals office and got the firearms dept.
The rep replied that as long as the model number, caliber matched the DOJ list, it was up to the dealers descretion whether a glock 17, first generation could be transfered.
    "up to the dealer"?
that sounds awful open ended, but he (AG rep) admitted that since the glocks go by general model number, i.e. glock 17, glock 19 rather than specific moedel numbers (like the kahrs mk9, mk9 elite, etc.), they (the AG's office) would have no way to determine whether it was a first, 2nd or 3 generation model.
As long as all the right numbers fit into the right place.
    Talk about grey area.
Don't ask, don't tell works for me, so will check with my dealer to see if he is comfortable with this...which is what the rep from the AG's office said to see.

A Glock 17 from 1986 to present is a Glock 17 for the purposes of CA DOJ's approved list.

The mags can be disassembled and legally imported into the state as replacement parts for installation on standard capacity mags you possessed as a resident of CA prior to 1/1/2000.
