New Smith & Wesson Shield X!

Seems like Smith is upping their Shield game, new sights, trigger, rail, 13 and 15 round mags in America, pretty cool. I am sure a neutered Commifornia version is in the works since the Plus is now on the roster. I've carried my Shields for 9 year now, they are great little guns, good to see them up their game a bit.

I wonder if the new trigger will be from the performance center line, or if there will also be a performance center version for the X.

Good question. That's the typical Smith timeline but who knows? We won't be seeing this one here in Commifornia for a while. I have the Shield Plus PC that I had to buy off roster, still can't get the PC version here.

Looks like S&W's answer to the P365XL and P365 XMacro, I like it!

I have Shield, Shield+ and the XMacro, love them all, so this new Shield X will be going on my stalk list.

It will be interesting to see how long it takes for Smith to get it onto the Roster.

definitely interested. Like Capybara, I also own a shield 1.0 and a plus. Carried the 1.0 for 2 years and now carrying the plus. I wonder what the size comparison is to the existing shield plus. Assuming a longer grip to accomodate the extra rounds.

Have a Xmacro on my permit but really only carry the Shield plus.

In the video, he mentions that the grip is longer, so might stick out a bit more for 3 o'clock carry? Seems like for appendix carry, the extra length wouldn't matter as much.
That said, my Shield Plus will be the only subcompact on my permit when it renews in 2027, the rest will be compacts, G19, possibly the Derya DY9 when I can evaluate it, Walther PDP Compact.
I am kind of dissatisfied with how I draw, present and shoot subcompacts in comparison to compacts so I'm migrating to compacts.
