Just picked up a 40S&W HK P2000 installed a HKParts compensator and went to the range. The compensator pulled the rail slot off, after less than 150 rounds. Anyone have this issue or just my luck? HKparts refunded my compensator but HK will not warranty because I attach an aftermarket part on it. My friends have exact compensator on their P2000 in 9mm but they seem to be fine for now.

Strange......
Maybe the previous owner had a light or something attached and unknowingly stress cracked the frame.
Did you make sure the side rail pressure screws were properly torqued?
Only thing I can think of is the compensator caused the bullet to start to tumble or was under sized allowing contact.
From your picture I do not see any wear/damage to compensator.
Did you notice poor shot placement or keyhole on your paper targets after installing?
If I ever add something like that I will for sure check for movement and loctite the screws.
Thanks for the heads up.Comment

Bought p2000 new about a month ago because it was cheaper than used! The bullet isn’t hitting the compensator because I checked after it came off:. I was told the side screws on compensator are not the main screws that held it into place but the bottom notch. Posting just to share info.sigpicComment

Man that’s a tough spot to be in, imo comps are not necessary.Vida Loca HomesComment

$300-$350 plus labor and shipping but not in stock.
acaligunner: I already put about 200 rounds through it. Worked flawlessly, just with a little over bite. 😂
sandspider500: suppose to add weight and direct the gas as a compensator to reduce recoil

If not bullet strike inside the compensator, then probably internal defect inside the plastic but not necessarily a "defect" of the frame, as the front light clip is never designed to handle any force in the direction it failed. There is not a lot of material at the area it failed. Aftermarket gadget like this is cool, but problem like this can happen.
I had similar experience putting a mock compensator on a Glock attached to the rail like your system, however except just pressure hold, it also has a screw that attached it via the rail slot. I even ream out the compensator to make sure a free wide, open bullet path. After all it is just for the looks. Welp, after a range trip less than a mag full, the compensator flew off the rail. The gas pressure alone was enough to smear the rail slot and jettison the compensator. There is just not enough strength in the plastic slot to hold against the gas pressure.👍 1Comment
