Trigger Pull Test – Springfield TRP Operator (Lyman Digital Gauge) Does it Stack Up?

Just wanted to share a quick trigger pull test I did on my Springfield Armory TRP Operator using a Lyman Digital Trigger Pull Gauge. Always been curious about how the trigger pull weight was on this 1911 straight from the factory.

I recorded a short video showing the testing process and the results. Thought it might be useful for anyone considering the TRP or comparing 1911 trigger setups.

    Gun: Springfield TRP Operator
Tool: Lyman Digital Trigger Pull Gauge

Let me know how this compares to your TRP or other 1911s. Would love to hear your thoughts!

IMG_9039.jpg Nice Springfield, I believe 4 pounds is just about right for a SD pistol. Either way, 1911’s do have really nice triggers.
Mine were set at the factory ( if I remember the manual stated 3.5 to 4 pounds ). Here’s mine ~

Nice pistols as well! I nearly bought the Springfield Pro as my first 1911, but wound up going with the TRP for half the price, to this day I think it's one of the best bang for your buck 1911's out there.

Still keep my eyes open for a Pro, Nighthawk GRP Recon with Rail, Nighthawk Enforcer, Ed Brown Special Forces etc. The Ed Brown had the absolute smoothest action of any of the 1911's I've got to check out, it felt like it was on ball bearings!

I hear you 🙂. I grew up on Colts, llamas, auto ordinance, interarms Star pd, and a Brazilian 1911, then bought some Springfields 🙂.

I was going to get the TRP full rail 1911, but bought my H&K P7M8 that was on the shelf right next to it.

I will be getting a MC Operator next - but might go with a TRP, I’ll see which when the time comes.

You have a nice Springfield sir - I do love the 1911 design and have carried a Springfield back in the days when wood and steel guns were the norm. Take care and hope all is well. 😁

Guess I'm buying a Trigger Pull Gauge.
