Who do you use to machine sight cuts

I am in the Sacramento area and need to get sight cuts done and a ball cut in a 1911. Who do you guys recommend locally?

I haven’t had luck finding any 1911/2011 smiths in CA. All the recommendations on these forums either have a huge backlog, or retired, or passed on

When I wanted the sights changed on my NHC and the rear sight I wanted needed some machining, I ended up sending it back to NHC and waiting.

Couple years ago I sent my SA Mil Spec to Novak's for sights. Took three weeks I believe.

I do 1911 work by in-person shop visit, while you wait.

ar15barrel does great work. Fast and precise.

Another option is Alan Tanaka down in South Bay area. Alan helped fit a ramp barrel to an un-ramped frame years ago (milled the frame). It turned out perfect even tho that was his first. He also showed me all his fancy 1911 gauges/tools. But with any 1911 smith, there may be a wait, probably not worth it just for sight cut.

Since it is just a slide, being in North CA, you can send anywhere in the county depending on what brand of sight you want.
