I'm building a CZ 75 Champion and when they originally came out they had a Hogue wrap around rubber grip. I went to order one off of Amazon and got a notice that this grip is "Restricted" in CA. and can not be shipped here. What BS. Why can't a simple rubber grip be shipped to this stupid state?

Hogue rubber grip for CZ 75

My guess is in an overabundance of caution, they felt it's better not to. -
It's likely the seller doesn't ship to California at all. They don't want to accidentally ship something here and find themselves being prosecuted because that random thing wasn't legal here. You can't really blame them. California has done exactly that to sellers before. Blame our politicians. If you voted for them, blame yourself.Last edited by tacticalcity; 04-26-2025, 8:30 PM.Comment

I'll just say this never ASSume who people vote for. I was just asking why a simple piece of rubber wasn't allowed to ship to this state. What's next tires after all the state government would love to see everyone walking so they can charge us a per step charge. It's likely the seller doesn't ship to California at all. You took that a little personally and as a result you missed the point. I said "if" you voted for the folks in charge. I did not say you did so. My response wasn't about you, as much as it is about the mess we Californians find ourselves in. Lots of people will stumble across this thread. This is a teachable moment about the consequences of continuing to elect liberal politicians. The results of which impact us all in any number of very annoying and negative ways that make absolutely no sense. The fact that you have not experienced this before is in itself surprising. This has been common practice for decades. It has nothing to do with the item itself and everything to do with California politics, our insane laws and hyper litigiousness. Many online sellers refuse to sell to California. Just spend some time shopping on Gunbroker.com. Or try and list a Magpul stock on eBay and see how quickly you get a lifetime ban on selling on that platform. It doesn't matter that the item is perfectly legal here. The sellers or selling platforms simply don't want to risk it. What is worse, their concern is justified. California has no problem going after out of state sellers who ship things here that have been banned for completely nonsensical reasons. Keeping track of what is and what is not allowed is challenging to say the least. If it wasn't, this forum would not exist. If we didn't live here, we wouldn't think trying to keep up with the ever-changing laws was worth it either. The California legislature is like Lucy with the football, and we are all Charlie Brown.Last edited by tacticalcity; 04-28-2025, 1:03 AM.Comment

I've noticed the same with Amazon with things like racing fuel cans. I just order them off of Ebay. Amazon just randomly won't ship certain things in Ca. Amazingly last year I order an LF Bros Diesel Heater off of Amazon and they did ship it to me here, which I found surprising. I would have thought Gav Boy and CARB would have slammed the ban hammer on those?NRA Certified Metallic Cartridge Reloading Instructor, Shotgun Instructor and Range Safety Officer

Amazon seems to throw that roadblock up a lot. Look at the alternate sellers. Some may send to CA. Or get it on ebay. That's where I usually go to buy things nowsigpic

It's bit like living in East Germany now here. We see our neighbors over the borders still have sanity but not here and we have to smuggle in goods. Look what this state has become.NRA Certified Metallic Cartridge Reloading Instructor, Shotgun Instructor and Range Safety Officer

Most likely reason is a lack of Prop65 labeling.I'm building a CZ 75 Champion and when they originally came out they had a Hogue wrap around rubber grip. That's not required, but prop 65 labeling is required.
The requirements changed a couple years back and the old inventory sitting on shelves is not able to be shipped without updating the label.
The manufacturers producing goods do that on new product, but the old product sitting on the shelf simply can't be shipped without updating the label and that's not something that distributors like to deal with.Randall Rausch
