    Springfield Kuna released today.

I know it's meaningless to those of you still stuck in Kali, but Springfield just released their 6" barrel roller-delayed PDW. Street price for the brace version is $999. That's crazy considering most of the competition is around $1,500 to $3,000.

I just posted another thread on this, I don't think its outside the realm of possibility that Springfield might submit this to the roster with a fixed, 10 round magazine. They did come out with another HS Produkt here, they created a California featureless version of the Hellion (20" barrel, no bayo lug, fixed stock, fin grip) and I just bought it, it's a pretty cool bullpup, I'm impressed. If Springfield wants to, they could sell the Kuna here, they jut have to jump through the state's stupid hoops to do so. But they sell a lot of Hellcats here, we know Springfield likes selling in California. Fingers crossed.

I'm just glad HS Produkt finally stopped Springfield armory from picking the worst possible names for their guns in the US market.

This what it's named after, the Croatian Pine Marten, known as a Kuna, which is also a denomination of Croatian currency.

If I were to buy this before moving to CA, what mods you’ll need to be done to make it compliant

The magazine would have to be fixed in the gun.

If CompMag will make a version for this gun, add a $65 CompMag and you'd be compliant. Or if any of the other dozen or so makers of AR fixed mag products make a fixed mag system for it. It has a very AR like upper and lower system, wouldn't be too difficult. You'd have to block your 30 round mags to 10 rounds also.
I'm really hoping Springfield will grace us with a fixed mag factory version, this would sell pretty well here I think. But they'd have to get it on the roster, which means adding an MDM and CLI. Might not pencil out to have to do that re-engineering.

Everything I have seen so far, this is a CZ Scorpion killer. I have an HK SP5 (also an EVO CZ Scorpion Micro), so it is a bit difficult for me to spend the cash for another PCC, but my local LGS has them in stock for $949 (no brace) and it is tempting.

So I would have to break it open and top load it?

CompMag loads from the magazine itself. It's slow but fine for a range toy. But I just installed a Cross Armory Safe Mag on an AR, you use a kingpin to barely break the action 1/8" open and the mag falls out and you load another mag, and slap the upper closed, it's very fast with some practice. So it all depends on who, if anyone will step up to the plate to work with Springfield. The modern mag lock systems have came a long way and are fairly fast and smooth. So no, you would not have break the action open and top load it, you would just barely break the action open and either the mag would automatically fall out or you could use the factory mag release it. That's California's definition of a fixed mag. Not that same as NY or some other States where you literally cannot remove the mag from the gun.

If nobody makes one and Springfield doesn't make a Cal legal model, then you're on your own but with some simple fabrication, I am sure you could adopt or modify an existing mag lock system to work with it. CompMag would be the easiest and best, just buy the mag, affix it, and load from the side of the magazine.
