The "originals" as compared to the new fangled ones. The ones with the forward serrations.

Autoloader handguns have been functional without the front serrations for 80+ years...

When Suddenly, in the last 10 -15 years, these features became ubiquitous.

I get it, some of you like them. That's cool.

I don't care for them, I think that they are a Marketing Fad; and none of my handguns have them.

    Just my opinion.

The "Right to Keep and Bear Arms" was not created by the 2nd Amendment; it was merely an acknowledgement of an existing, In-Alienable Right

IN-ALIENABLE - Defined by Webster as: incapable of being alienated, surrendered, or transferred .

I’ll say the majority of folks know that the OG 1911’s didn’t have front serrations on the slide. I’ve been shooting 1911’s since a kid of 9 years old.

Also on 1911’s ( maybe during the tactical phase of things ) ~ the “ press check “ was oh so smooth. Once in the 2000’s a gun shop dude wanted me to do a “ press check On a 1911, and I told him “ I don’t do that so no “.

I don’t like or dislike them, and if gunners think they’ll 1 day “ need “ that option , good for them🤔.

I don’t believe anyone should be that bothered by something so non important, it’s just a cosmetic feature.

What next ? A bunch of “ old timers “ getting upset over cuts on the slide for red dot sights ? 🤔 🤨 🤣🤣 !! Been chooting guns for 200 years with iron sights, Don’t need no cuts fo red dots !! 😡

Well, if some firearm aficionados choose to "Fabulous up" their pistols; far be it for me to comment any further..

Look, for close to 100 years we have had semi auto handguns without forward serrations and slide mounted optics. Because the pistols worked just Fine without them.

All of the sudden, these features are all the rage. - You don't think that they are a marketing gimmick ?

            ..
Pistol optics is the current trend, but i think it stick around like pic rail for light attachment.

The only 2A gimmick I can recall over past decade was canola oil repackaged and sold as FireClean gun lube .

I can say if I saw that pistol at the range, it would be hard for me to not roll my eyes.

              |But there is something about building a bit of humor into owning certain guns. I can see a tongue in cheek reason to own
a Gold Plated Zebra striped DE in .50 or a Girsan Liberador because they are so over the top tacky, impractical and lame looking. In a way, owning such a gun is cool simply because you CAN own a gun that looks like that.
