The trigger is fantastic and the reset is positive and short. Of all my recent guns, the PDP probably has the best trigger although the Canik TP9SF I tried out at an Academy Sports may have been slightly better although not worth buying another 9mm worth it.

Putting a red dot on the gun makes accuracy so easy it almost feels like cheating. I put the solar panel Holosun 407C X2 30/2 MOA red dot on it. I now prefer the non-solar version on my pistols because it has a semi built in rear sight that can be used as a BUIS in case the reflex does not work. I also find that the Green Dot/Circle is easier to pick up for me. I don't like the ACSS Vulcan monster circle. Finding the 30 MOA circle with the dot is very easy to pick up.

Thanks for giving us a frame of reference on the size. Much appreciated...also feel free to chime in if you have other thoughts on the pistol.

Don't know about the mag disconnect but this pic from Riflegear shows the small red flag popup for the CLI. So it may be similar to the Sig M18. Hopefully, the text is on the optics cover so it goes away once you mount a red dot.

I have 2 PPQs (4" and 5") so my Walther itch is scratched enough for now.

If you look closely at the Riflegear image, the CLI appears to be located right in front of the front edge of the optics plate. From the side it doesn't appear to be huge.

Here is a pic I found a few weeks back.

Doesn't look that bad. After handling a standard model to get a feel for it I'm pretty tempted to add one to my collection. If I didn't already have a standard non CA VP9 it would be my new bedside gun.

If it didn't have to have the stupid text, I wouldn't mind it that much. But that's just cosmetic, the MDM actually is going to make that best in class trigger decidedly worse than the trigger the rest of the world gets.
Hopefully when we rip it out, we can at least get to the same trigger America gets.

Funny, I just bought a H&K VP9L OR and then this came out here a week later so I have to have both. But I'm getting the Compact and will add it to my CCW.

Has anyone received the call yet that their Walther PDP is ready to be DROS'd? It's halfway though May and still have not seen one in a store yet, I've been in four different gun stores the last few weeks, not even a preview model that the company's sometimes send out to their gun stores?

Good grief, it's June 5th and not a peep from any dealers or Walther about deliveries for the California approved PDPs. Anyone heard anything from their LGS or Turners yet?

Seems like a bunch of the gun companies are going out of business due to lack of business from reduced panic buying. i.e. Trump isn't attacking guns.

I have not heard about any difficulties with Walther, but I guess one never knows? Their guns are huge sellers outside of Commifornia, hope our neutered versions are delivered soon.

Haven't heard anything from my local dealers. One shop was such dicks gave me some serious attitude when I asked.

Said that it was just added to the roster so it usually takes several months before they usually show up. Even though stupid Walther direct said late May.

You guys are dealers who sell them you think they could inquire and get a better answer than a average customer.

The Walther PDP was developed to maximize readiness during duty or defense scenarios. The PDP offers excellent ergonomics with a brand new Performance Duty

I found one that's accepting back orders.

Has anyone start DROS on their CA roster PDP?

                            Update 08/20/25

I emailed Walther USA to see if they had any update on when we might begin to see the PDPs that at least some of have had deposits down on. The reply wasn't super encouraging but according to Walther, at least some have been shipped to distributors. But that could just be 20 or 50 of them, which wouldn't help most of us.
No idea between Cabelas/Bass Pro, Turners, Riflegear, Ammo Bros, etc. how many are are on order from the distributors to satisfy at least the SoCal and Central Cal market?

                            Here was the reply:

                            "Hi Capy,

We do not know when dealers will get the firearms. Most dealers go through distributors. There have been some shipped to distributors, but that would be a question for the dealer to check with their distributor on an estimate of when they will be available.

That is a crap reply from Walter…how about something like, “…yeah, shipped out 1000 to CA distributors…and they should filter down to the retail level in a few weeks…” or something like that. My pendulum is starting to swing the other way, and I may get a stacatto. The PDP and the stacatto are the only interesting new roster guns for me.
