    S&W CCW

Looking to pick up another pistol for CCW in CA. I have it narrowed down to the CSX E Series or the Shield 9 Plus with the optic cut. Does anyone have experience with either of these?

I love my shield plus. Great shooter in my experience. None experience with the csx.

My shield is the roster version. I had a shield 1.0 on my permit and added a optic ready slide. That slide fits on the plus so I'm just swapping it over.

I really like my m&p’s that’s why I’m looking at the shield. It would take a lot of re training to get used to the single action only csx. I’m just trying to get my pre roster fix before I move to CA lol

I have an original Shield and a Shield Plus on my permit in CA. They are great CCW guns. Another thing to consider in your decision right now is the Shield Plus is rostered in CA so you can pick up that version down the road, swap out the slide if you hate the LCI, and purchase something now you can't get here.

I've never shot the CSX E but I carried the Shield 1.0 for seven years and replaced it with the Shield Plus PC a few years ago. I absolutely love both pistols, they have both been as solid as a rock, both loosen up as far as racking after 1,000 to 2,000 rounds. The trigger on the Plus PC is better than the 1.0, the grip texture is better and the sights are better. I have several optics pistols now but I'm not convinced I want to carry an optics gun at all. I don't like the lump on top for drawing, holster and I don't trust optics to work when you absolutely need them to. Fine for range toys but for carry? I'm not convinced.

If you can, buy both and then sell the one you like the least when you come to CA. Off roster guns command a premium here in CA. And if thats not an option, id get the CSX since you can always buy a roster shield when you get here.

No I don't believe so. My roster shield plus is not optic ready. Had to buy the optic ready slide separately.
