Pistol Bore Axis: Comparison and Explanation

Great article from "Gun Tweaks," explaining bore axis and comparing the bore axis of 30-ish pistols.

** Note: I'm not familiar with this site at all but thought is was a pretty solid article. YMMV.

Low bore axis reduces flip, but you'll feel more of the recoil into the hand (snappy).

One great example is to shoot a chiappa rhino next to a normal revolver. There's much less muzzle rise, but the rhino feels snappy.

And you do get the lower trigger, which the article mentions.

One reason my S&W 422 is so accurate is that its unusual barrel-below-slide design results in a very low bore axis and a straight-line relationship of trigger to backstrap curve. Fans of the model and its cousins believe that S&W stopped production because it equaled Model 41 in accuracy at a fraction of the price. I have both and it is amazing that much lighter gives Model 41 a run for its money. Interestingly they do use same mags.

The 422 is the most underrated gun. Hoard some extractors when you find them.
