    Sig 1911 quality??

I am contemplating going against all of my evil impulses and buying a 1911. I've always steered clear due to having seen a fair number of 1911's go down during LE classes and what not. I don't want to open a huge can of worms here, I've shot some friends' high end 1911's and was amazed by the accuracy, just have never been able to find a "happy medium" as far as price point and quality goes.

My LGS is running a special on Sig Sauer 1911's, they bought a ton of em for the LEO only (off-list) market and have had no luck unloading them so are selling them for fairly cheap. Are these good pistols?? Is $690 a fair price on a stainless model??
Buying a safe and sane firework is like paying a hooker for a hug. I do not see the appeal in it.

    $690? For a sig 1911? A fair price?

You better run and get it, they're $1100 MSRP, and that's what they will charge you where I live. SS sig 1911 is very neat looking gun, I have the nitron versions, so happy I decided to go with it over other 1911s in that price.

The trigger is very nice out of the box, match grade. It comes with all the extra stuff, such as speed bump, beaver tail, boned safety, novak stile night sights, and front/back checkering are very comfy. Plus its a sig, great quality.Go get it, awesome gun.

Would really depend on the model # but that sounds like a great deal to me. From what I understand Sig 1911's used to have a lot of problems but the newer ones (Serial #'s above 7000 i think?) are supposed to be great. I think previous issues had to do with the extractor and/or feeding problems.

(I've been throwing the idea around of getting one too and that price is almost $200 less than the cheapest i've been able to find the 1911R-45-SSS for.)

Early Sig 1911's had quality control issues. Later models seemed to have fixed those issues.

I bought a Sig 1911 TTT a few months ago and it's an excellent gun IMO.
If the model is relatively new, I'd jump at that price.
I found the workmanship and fit to be top notch on mine. Sweet trigger (feels more like 3 and not 5lb like they state) and just a joy to shoot.

Early productions had problems, we are talking about 2004-2005 SIGarms GSR's not SIG-sauer 1911's.

My 2007 GSR target has been flawless. The only thing it won't eat is SWC's.

That is a GREAT! deal BTW.

I bought a Sig 1911 Nitron Rail a few months ago. After about 1000 rounds I haven't had one single problem. It's been flawless. It likes lead, FMJ, plated RN, JHP and SWC. I'm actually thinking of getting another one. I guess it doesn't make sense to get another Sig, but now I really like them.

                      it's not a police trade-in, it's a brand new gun.

I paid just a hair over $1000 out the door for my Nitron Rail.... $690 is a no brainer. Buy it.

For 690.00 you'd best be running bacl to your LGS and get two! I'm saving for a Nitron with the rail for 889 and you get'EM for 690. Man hurry before they all gone.
