    Colt Python

I've not seen a thread on a revolver for a while.

Not sure if I just got lucky or if all those "new model" Pythons have lowered the prices on the old model. Maybe a bit of both. For at least the run of the mill Pythons.

Picked up this 1976 made 6" for a few hundred over the new model.

Has the Patridge style front sight and Elliason rear. The grips are transition type with the concave checkering line and thumb rest on each side rather than the later straight line.

    Great catch dfletcher!
Have you fired it yet? If not, pack some shooting gloves because if your checkering is as sharp edged as my gen3 Python are, you'll need them for prolonged shooting.
For those who have not yet shot a Python, the checkering is relief cut above the smooth surface of the walnut grip, unlike that of Smith & Wesson's surface flush cut checkering.

True, raised and well defined. Had a little practice handling shooting this -
