Sig 1911 Scropion Owners...Experience Any Problems?

So I've seen alot of posters who have gotten their 1911 Sig Scorpions in (carry & full size) and I just wanted to see how your experiences with the gun have gone. If you owners care to chime in I think it would help current owners and potential buyers know what to expect fron this beautiful gun.

    Questions:
1.Do you have a full size or carry?

2.How many shots have you run throught he gun and did you experience any FTF or FTE?

3.What ammo and what mags did you use?

    For my self:

    -Full SIze
    -Approx 400~450 rounds
    -Using Federal American Eagle

I've had FTF issues with mine (about 1 in 32-48 rounds) and sent it in to Sig to have them take a look. They polished the barrel feed ramp and sent it back. Tried it out again and still got some FTF issues (the gun will almost chamber the round completely but will get jammed with maybe 1/4" of the unchambered round to go when this does happen. I can't push the slide forward at all to chamber the round and must manually eject the round entirely by pulling the slide back.

I 've read that 1911's can be magazine sensitive so I started tracking which magazines were inserted when the jams would occur. It seems to happen mostly on 2 magazines (1 Wilson Combat & 1 Facotry Mag) but has happened at least once or twice on others. Hmmm..... So ordered some tripp mags and cmc mags to see how those will run. Next range session I will just be focusing on exactly when the jams occur and which mags they occur on.

Hopefully I can isolate it to only certain mags.

I can't trust this gun as 100% reliable yet , which bothers me since all my other pistols I have gotten to the point where they will eat anything and not have a jam...at this point mags are not an issues with them. (but they are not 1911s)

What do you all think my current problem is? mag issue, gun issue, or break in period?

How is your 1911 scorpion holding out and have you had any of these mentioned issues?

Buddy has one and I've been to the range with him every time he has shot it. Put about 800 rounds with no issues what so ever. We use the Winchester paper ammo sold at Walmart.

I own a Sig Scorpion I have put about 1000 rounds of Winchester White Box and Federal thought it and not one FTF/FTE. The gun has been very reliable with factory ammo. BUT I have had the same FTF you describe with my home brewed rounds. I have tried a few thing to fix it, but no luck. I think the "match" chamber is pretty tight so it is finicky about ammo. But hey Sig market it with "match parts lot a loose goose Glock.

I will fix the issue with my home brews!!
If you want change you have to put in your 2 cents, you can't just sit on the sidelines and whine.

Damn maybe its the ammo then? (crappy since I've bought alot of it...all my other guns eat AE very well so thought it was gtg with the scorpion)

Anyone else use American Eagle to feed it? (I'm actually using the 250 rd value box... they look fine when loading)

...actually come to think of when I first got it, I used speer lawman before I sent it into Sig and it jammed then....

Hmm thought the jamming was a more common problem than it apparently is according to all your replies...maybe I need to send it into Sig again?

Thanks for the input all please keep it coming.

I have a full size Scorpion with about 500rnds through it. Started using Blazer Brass/WWB/Remington for the first 200ish rounds and now using my reloads. No FTF/FTE yet. Knock on wood. So far been very happy with it.

i dont have one, but ammo doesnt sound right. take it to a 1911 smith and have them try to figure it out.

Pay attention to your finish... there's several threads online about the finish chipping. Seem like Sig messed up on the prep on some of the earlier batch.

Have you or anyone with these problems contacted Sig about this? I wonder if they will fix this for free.

The online post did say that Sig covered it and refinished it under warranty. Some of the posts had chipping from area you normally don't look at... under grip, behind thumb safety, inside of the palm safety, etc. The pic shows a pretty bad sample... but some of the pic I've seen online are smaller.
