Is the lcp max 380 ca approved on the roster ? Is that what you’re saying - or did it get added to the ca roster ?

cant find 13748 listed on Ruger website. maybe they are going to be releasing a CA model. pro tip from someone who owns a Max, the gun kinda sucks. recoil is snappy, the trigger pinches your finger when firing and unless you get the stainless steel model you need to keep a layer of oil on the gun to prevent rusting because they will rust up.

The LCP Max was added to the Roster today. I agree with Mossy on its shortcomings. I’ve replaced the trigger with an MCarbo one to avoid pinching and had the slide cerakoted to prevent rust. Though snappy, it makes for a good pocket pistol with 10+1 rounds vs. the usual 6 or 7+1. If the Max was added; I’d wager that S&W will submit their new Bodyguard 2.0 in the future. That pistol has gotten some pretty good reviews overall. I don’t think you could go wrong carrying either one for a modern pocket .380.

Any rumors or other of when the Ca-approved LCP Max 380 may start showing up in California stores?

I just reviewed the manual for the non-CA Max 380:

1. Can be fired without a magazine.
2. No manual safety.
3. View port for verifying a round is in the chamber.

So I suppose this means the pistol approved by the DOJ has a magazine disconnect, a manual safety, and a different extractor with loaded chamber text?

Nobody knows what the CA version will look like. Ruger hasn't released any photos of it yet.

I’m sure it is, but as far as pocket guns go it is considerably larger then the 380 max, but that said the 380 max is considerably larger then the LCP II. So it’s all relevant to what you consider too big for a pocket gun and the pocket you plan to carry it in. The LCP II I can carry in a front or back Jean pocket, can do the same with the max but the pants need to be on the lose side. The 9 would only work in cargo or jacket pockets for me.

My first thought was the DOJ must have accepted the trigger dingus. But the Max 9 (w/manual safety) has the same dingus.

Perhaps the photo hasn't been updated yet? Then again, there's no mention of a manual safety in Ruger's description of the CA-approved LCP Max. Ruger's description of the Max 9 includes the manual safety.
