my primary off duty gun is a shield plus. I love the ting, but sometimes I don't really want to carry heavier gun if I'm just out for a walk or quick trip somewhere. the original plan was to get a glock 42 but when I ended up getting a LCP Max instead. shot it some, didn't really like it, but it fulfilled my need for a high capacity small gun to throw in a pocket. then a week or so after I get the Max S&W has the audacity to launch their high capacity micro 380. why couldn't they have done this before I got the Max? kind of annoyed, but I figure I will get one when there are holsters and spare mags available. was at LC action and i saw one under the glass, I said screw it and paid for the thing. busted it outta 10 day jail ant took it straight to the range today.
what's included.
the box doesn't include many extras, but you do get a sticker and two mags one flush fit and one extended. I alwase appreciate it when a new gun designed for carry comes with two mags. and the box looks nice, a lot better looking then the M&P shield box. overall I would say its a good value for the money, I just wish they would have included a mag loader.

magazines
not many choices at the moment, 10 in the flush fit or 12 in the extended. unless you have a magazine loader you are not getting either mag loaded to full capacity though. the springs are some of the tightest I have ever seen in a mag. one of the complaints I see online is that the mags don't hold 10 or 12. they do, you just need a mag loader and hard surface to get the last few rounds in. right out of the box you are not getting the last few in by hand. not sure how long it takes to break in, so i wish they would have included a cheap plastic tool like glock. currently I am using the loader that came with the LCP Max. seems to get the job done.

the gun
its a micro a little longer and taller then the LCP max but width is the same. still extremely pocketable. excellent ergonomics the 2.0 has a low bore axis, undercut trigger guard, flat trigger with a 4lb break, aggressive slide serrations grippy texture and palm swells. even without the extended mag I can get a three finger grip on the pistol, that little extra length makes a difference.

sights
you get a front hiviz orange with tritium insert, and a blacked out rear U notch. sounds nice, but honestly the sights are not that great. the U notch is wide enough to drive a truck through. I get why they did this, its not a precision target gun and the wide U notch allows for quick target acquisition but taking this gun past 10 yards is not easy. when you aim down there is plenty of daylight around the front post. there are a ton of complaints about the gun shooting left online and people believing there sights are not centered. i found the gun to be extremely grip sensitive and its easy to pull shots if you are not paying attention to your grip or you don't have the front post centered in the wide u notch. i don't think the entire batch of 2.0's have misaligned sight, I think the sights just suck and when mixed with the short sight radius, light weight overall smallness of the gun, its easy to pull shots off center. I'm sure there will be aftermarket sights available sometime in the future, when I can get a new set the stock sights will be replaced.

shooting experience
its fun. I couldn't believe I was actually having fun shooting a micro 380. I'm used to snappy recoil and a trigger that pinches but the 2.0 is a completely different animal. its a extremely flat shooting gun and there is almost no muzzle rise. that low bore axis makes a huge difference. its also fast, because of the minimal muzzle rise and 4lb trigger you can double or triple tap easy. if you want to you can empty a mag quick and still have all rounds on target. it also makes nice fireballs with 95gr ammo and that amused me. I ran a little bit of everything through both extended mags ( I'm not going to be using the flush fit so I didn't bother testing it on the range) and experienced no issue. ate all the JHP's, flat and round nose FMJ's I feed it.

accessories
holster choice is limited but growing. currently I am using a cheap CYA holster off amazon till my custom one is delivered. spare mags in both 10 and 12 round flavors can be found but sell out quick. I was lucky and scored a 12 rounder off the mag shack before they sold out again. other after market accessories are not available yet.
final thoughts
S&W needs to bring this to ban states immediately, they brought over the shield plus im sure they have a bodyguard 2.0 in the works. its a game changer and the best high capacity micro 380 available. I don't see how they would skip out on the CA market. they already are selling one with a thumb safety all they need to do is work in a mag disconnect and its good to go. the minimal muzzle rise makes the 2.0 an extremely soft, flat and fast shooter as long as you are not trying to engage a target 25 yards out. it fulfills its duty as a backup carry gun for those times when you don't want to or cant carry your normal larger pistol. if you can get a deal on a PPT or live in a free state I highly recommend the bodyguard 2.0 the internet hype is real with this one. the Glock 42 and LCP max just cant compete with this gun. S&W knocked it outta the park.
