I have a GP100 in 4” and 6”. I’ve had them for years and they’ve always performed well.

Oh, they're great! GP100's completely, totally rock and are wonderful, well-made wheelguns. But they're hardly compact, which is really what the OP was looking for.

While Rugers may not be quite as "pretty" or well finished as an S&W or Kimber, they are well built, solid and reliable and will handle decades of use. Using modern manufacturing techniques allow them to be built in a cost-effective process, making them less expensive than some other brands, but that doesn't mean they are "weak" or "cheap" guns.

Indeed. Ruger revolvers seem to be built strongly enough to endure a ground-zero Hiroshima-like blast with only minor scuffing. :-) My Security-Six is a tank. The GP100 is even more of a tank. The SP101 is a smaller tank. They'll take abuse and keep on going. I liken the S&W to a Seiko watch, whereas the Ruger is more like a Timex ("takes a lickin', keeps on tickin'")
