I recently got a glock 27 gen 3 and i took it apart to do some greasing, oiling and cleaning. I took out the recoil spring and cant seem to get it back in. it wont "squish" to meet the slide and barrel. Is it broken as a matter of me bieing upset I ordered a stainless steel guide rod from Glockmiester for $43. does anyone have any insight to this problem? any input helps I guess the guide rod is broken. I own many glocks and this is the 1st time this has happened.

Take a picture and show us? My money is on nothing's actually broken. If it were, I'd use a stock Glock part to replace it, but that's just me."[T]he liberties of the American people [are] dependent upon the ballot-box, the jury-box, and the cartridge-box . . without these no class of people could live and flourish in this country." -- Frederick Douglass (1892) -
It can take a little wiggling to get the front end alilgned in the hole, thenit should pushin enough to seat it on the barrel.Comment

Wow, no.Originally posted by littlejakeIf Glock recoil springs remain the same as 1st generation, then they must not be oiled or greased. The flat coil cushions the recoil by compressing air between the turns. Oil and grease are incompressible."The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure."

I was on my phone before, and I didn't get to answer the OP's question.
I've got a 27 and I know exactly what you mean about the recoil spring assembly. I thought mine was impossibly hard to reassemble, but the truth of the matter is, you need to line up the recoil spring rod perfectly with the hole it goes through to get it to go back in. The first 25 times I field stripped the gun I had to try 5 or 6 times to get the recoil spring back in its place. You just place it at the opening on the slide and shove the rear of the assembly. If the front of the guide rod goes through the slide, success! If not, just take it back out and try again. Practice makes perfect here.
That's not a terribly descriptive answer, but it's not really something that can easily be explained with text. If you're still having issues, I may see if I can make a video describing the problem and how to fix it. Let me know."The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time, with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is its natural manure."
