    Springfield Armory Loaded 1911 A1.....

I am rediscovering my old love affair with the 1911 and decided I needed a little retail therapy a couple weeks ago.

Just picked up a Springfield "Loaded" parkarized 1911A1 and I am reasonably impressed. I put 350 rnds of hard ball and 50 rnds of Federal HST thru the gun right out of the box with just soem Lucas gun oil at friction points and the weapon perfoemd flawlessly. Tritiaum 3 dot Novak style sights were dead nuts on at POA/POI. Gun was/is solid with all the right mods one needs to make a 1911 combat capable and none of the ones you dont need. The trigger was a bit gritty but I think that will smooth out with a 1000 rnds or so. Again the gun looks good, felt good and shot damn well and the only modification I will makeis to put a set of Herrett D45 stocks on the gun to match all my other 1911's.

I have several customized 1911's built on Colt/Springfield /Caspian guns and this new "out of the box" Springfield can hold its own. I am probably going to pick up a stainless version of the Loaded 1911 when they are available again. I wish they made a commander size loaded model as well.

Anyone looking for a solid quality made "tool" 1911.. I think this is it.

Good to hear you have rediscovered the beauty of a 1911. I have several; mostly Ed Browns that are tucked away in a climate controlled environment. They’re clean, but I’m certain dry as a bone since it’s been a few years since handled. Time to show them some love this winter.

I’ve been focusing on my carry guns with optics for the last few years.

Try throwing the hogue wraparound fingergroove rubber grip replacement. Huge gains in comfort and control, and least for me. Always hated stock 1911 grips

VZ / LOK ( maybe some cocobolo ) grips are a nice addition, I have a pair on my Nighthawk.

I definitely wish there was an affordable (>$1000) commander sized springfield or other brand.
