    Maverick Derringer

I picked up ta derringer in 357 Magnum yesterday, no good reason other than liking it. It's made by Uberti and the importer is (was) Intercontinental Arms, Inc - they're long gone. Seems very well made, definitely nicer fit and finished than the American Derringer but maybe not quite as robust as Bond.

I'm trying to learn about the gun - anyone have one, anything to be aware of? Other than what seems like a complete lack of spare parts.

Not sure when it was made, it carries what may be a serial number of 296. I've seen some older adverts for it from the very early 60's.

I don't know much about derringers other than I know I wouldn't want to shoot that 😆

    Congrats on the score!

Pretty! Uniquely shaped really, I don't think I've seen one like that before - great score!

Not sure why it caught my eye - the "case color" and blued barrels maybe.

I'm kind of a sucker for derringers. Even learned to reload rimless to get the Remington to go "bang".

I guess that should go in the rimfire section. It's a 3rd model Remington 95 derringer in 41 rimfire. If you look at the round just to the fet of the ammo box, on its side, you'll see the 6mm copper blank that functions as the primer. The reloading tool is much like the old Lee hand held, brass and bullets from GunBroker and IIRC some outfit in France. In addition to being hard to find, a box of 41 rimfire (Navy Arms) runs about $400.00 per 50 rounds. Which is slightly more than what I paid for the gun.

Uses blackpowder, quite the plume when fired. Not sure about the bullet weight though - 146 I think.

Beautiful! I remember reading about 41 rimfire and how some would reload them using the method you mentioned. The older I get, the more I appreciate old things 😀

                Nice.
But it's more concealable than the huge Bond, or not?

I have the Bond 3" in 45 ACP and the 45 Colt/410 (it's in OR) and I'd say it's a tie. Probably comes down to barrel length. Each weighs about the same too.

That's a great looking derringer. Congrats.

I had one! pre 1968 import. oversize and yes based on the TV Show hence the name. Very well made and due to size a little less recoil then the current makes. I used it for Cowboy action shootin side matches...
