    S&W Model 29-2

    Holey Moley! It's back up.

I recently picked up this factory nickel 1979 vintage Model 29-2. I have a weakness for 4 inch barreled S&W N frame revolvers and even though I tried hard to resist (well, really not all that hard,) I found it coming home with me. It was a trade deal for a couple of other guns that I was no longer interested in and after it was all said and done, I figure I have about $950 all-in in it.

It was pretty grungy but a bit of elbow grease and some Mothers Mag polish cleaned it right up.

Factory nickel guns will have a "N" on the grip frame:

And another "N" on the cylinder: On factory nickeled guns, the extractor is blued as is the rear sight. The hammer and trigger are color case hardened.

It came with it's original presentation case, owners manual, cleaning kit and sight adjusting tool. As per usual with these 40+ year old cases, the flocking was MIA on the liners.

I bought a flocking kit in royal blue off of Ebay and tried my hand at re-flocking the liners. For the first time trying it, I think it came out okay.

I am personally, not a huge fan of the chrome plating, but still a beautiful blaster

          A penny for your thoughts.

A 'nickel' to keep them in the holster.

That's a beauty! The closest I could ever find in a 4" N Frame was my Mountain Gun. Sadly, it has the Hillary hole on it; but it still is very enjoyable.
Do you have a link for the flocking kit? I need two presentation cases reflocked. I lined my model 57 case with velvet in the meantime.S&W 57.jpg
