    Sig P232 vs P365

I had to send my P232 to Sig Sauer repair because there was a problem with the slide catch lever preventing me from field stripping and cleaning. Well I got a call from them saying they can no longer get parts needed for repair. The service guy gave me 2 options: 1) They can send it back to me but not repaired. (Maybe I could find parts "somewhere".) OR 2) They will give me full credit for what I paid towards any new gun. He suggested the 365 but said the credit can be used for any gun they make.

Does anyone have any experience with the 365 and possibly any comparison between the two guns? I do realize they are totally different (9mm vs .380, partially polymer vs all metal). Just wondering if anyone has anything to say regarding the feel and durability.

    Thanks if advance.

The magazine release is a huge difference if you're used to the heel release of the 232, Sig also makes a .380 slide and barrel for the 365. You can also get a metal grip module to get the weight closer to the 232, juggernaut tactical makes a good one with magazine base pads and a holster.

            Hey, Charlie.
I think the P365 is a better gun, but I have a different sort of advice. The "deal" they're offering you might sound good, but you need to be certain of the price of the new gun. Are they offering it to you at the MSRP, or the going rate at discount gun stores? If you end up paying full price for the new gun, it might not be such a good deal.

You might be better off getting the P232 back and fixing it yourself. If you go that route, see if you can negotiate for something to compensate you for the trouble. At the least you should end up with a pile of swag.

looks like numrich has the part you needed so if you really like the gun, get it back and replace it yourself. otherwise, p365 or whatever p___.

As an owner of both a P230 and a couple of P365s my suggestion is take the deal.

I shoot the 230 every couple of years just to remind me what a horrible POS it is. ?

I have both for CCW, and P365 is much better.
If you're in CA, make sure its CA Approved...?

But P232 is classic and similar to 007 PPK.

The magazine release is not a big deal. One of my other guns is a M+P 9mm and I'm more used to that type of mag release.

They have a replacement for the Slide Catch Lever but they don't have the spring and don't anticipate getting it any time soon. I think I could get the spring elsewhere but they also don't offer any instructions as how to replace the parts. I'm leaning towards getting one of the 365 models after watching some YouTube reviews. If p232 parts are hard to get now, they'll only get scarcer in the future.
EDIT: I just called a local gunsmith who advised AGAINST repairing the P232. He's been waiting for parts for over 2 years. He also said, he's has a P232 and this part has failed twice. He advised taking the credit towards a 365.

I bought a 365 a few months ago, and although I am only about 300 rounds in, most of them in IDPA, I really like it as a CCW. IT's about the size of a 939 but holds 10 rounds.
