Share how your Kimber K6XS and/or Taurus 856 has worked for you

Hi, I'm looking for input from folks who own or have shot these two small revolvers. Do you like it? Do you carry it and if so how/where on the body? (pocket, hip holster, ankle, etc.)

I have the 8546 UL, 856 Executive, and ordered the K6xs but rejected it.

I really wanted the Kimber but its defective in how the rear of the cylinder locks to the frame. It has vertical play. Its brand new so you know it will only increase with wear and use. Also, the cylinder wasn't timed correctly. Kimber has some quality control issues to work out.

The taurus 856 executive is a perfect revolver, excellent in every way.

The 856 UL is decent and super affordable so it gets a pass if it's not perfect. It's snappy so if you want a gun for lots of fun shooting get the Executive.

A month ago I got a 'standard' Taurus 856 (stainless - not the UL).
Must admit that I've not yet taken it to the range, but the handling and checking in the home (unloaded of course) indicates that it's a solid little revolver.
Side note: I had long looked at the S&W J-Frames, but it was having that 6th round in the cylinder, the all stainless construction, design, and value that steered me to the 856 (after A LOT of research)...

What barrel lengths do you have on your 856s? Is the 856 executive really that much better than the regular model? What's different about it?

I have a Taurus 85 Ultralite (5 rounds instead of 6 rounds). At 17 oz. empty and a 2" barrel, it's very snappy. It's just not pleasant after 2 cylinders. I was hoping the 3" version at 24 oz. would be a better shooter.

On a whim I bought a Taurus 856CH (bobbed hammer) and I was surprised at how good the trigger is. I really like the package, but I may also need to get a 3" barrel version.

I have the same gun. Chose it over the Kimber because of light primer strikes by the Kimber.

I got the K6xs and I like it because I am a shooter and I shoot every month. The front sight is easy to see, the DAO is smooth and the grips are comfortable. It is a quality revolver and I have been buying revolvers since the 1970s.

My cheapskate brother got the Taurus to pocket carry. He shoots only annually so it was either "out of timing" (shaving lead) right from the factory or after a few months of pocket carrying. (he does have a pocket holster) JMHO just holding it, it seems 'cheap'.

The 856 executive is 3", and this line from taurus are the best they offer. They start with hand picked guns, then tune and refinish them.

All the rest of my taurus's are 2", all decent.

If you asked me to pick only one, it's an easy choice - the 3" 856 executive. It's made perfectly, exceptionally accurate, and the recoil is mild enough to make enjoyable to shoot.

If you asked me to pick only three handguns to keep, it would be one of those three.

I see the 856 Ex on Taurus website now. It was not showing a few days ago. The link just went to the home page of the Executive line.

Looks like 856 Ex is only available in 3" with a bobbed hammer. That's too bad. I would like to at least have the option of single action mode.

Find a model 60 j frame 38 special get a pocket holster and you will have a solid ccw weapon in front pocket. Front pocket carry is very nice and you will forget you have it with you. Pocket carry is very good as you can have your hand in the pocket and nobody ever knows.

The Kimber, while expensive, is a really solid revolver. The two inch is a great choice for carry if you want a wheel gun and are comfortable with the limited capacity. The 3 inch in DASA is also a really nice gun.

The double action trigger is so good you'll never miss not having an exposed hammer spur!

They added a full size 356 mag to the executive line. It should be on the roster soon it not already.

Value for money, the 856 executive is the one to get!
