    SF Bay Area gunsmith

Anyone know of a good local SF Bay Area gunsmith who works on Sigs? All I'm looking for is a detailed strip and cleaning on one of my P226's.

Don Lazzarini in Santa Clara is absolutely the best 'smith around. DLG Enterprises is his shop name. Right next door to the Academy of Self Defense.

Best gun smith for this work is youTube.

Nothing wrong with sending your 226 to a professional, but I think instead of paying a smith for something as simple as a detail strip cleaning, if you invest the funds towards this:

Guns for sale. Gun Parts for Sig Sauer, Heckler & Koch, AR-15, Glock, 1911 parts. Your top gun supply superstore!

plus the proper tools, you will be well under way to never having to pay for this type of service again and you will be better off with a deeper understanding of how your Sig works.

Pay the professional gunsmiths for other stuff like trigger/action jobs and things like that.

Sending your pistol to a competent gunsmith for detailed cleaning has an advantage. He can advise you of any parts tthat may be worn/need replacing.

True, and for my range guns, I do that once every 2 years.

Valkyrie arms has a Sig certified armorer, I believe.

(note their new location, last time I went I drove to the old location and was very confused to find it empty.)

I would also recommend doing it yourself though. It will probably cost the same to buy the tools and an armorer's DVD as it will cost to pay a smith to do it, and if you do it yourself then you learn how your pistol functions.

Worst case scenario, you can always bring a bag of parts to the gunsmith after you can't get it back together
