    1911 Question

I am purchasing a SA 1911 Loaded from a calgunner and where we did the PPT the guy said to get a push button guide rod and spring plug to replace the allen wrench take town proceedure and make it faster and easier to field strip. So what exactly am I looking for?

I found this place and it looks like I need the part number 889 but I am not sure. Still learning as this is my first 1911.

What size is your 1911? You need the 3 items in the center... a USGI bushing, guide rod and spring.

    Plug: http://www.brownells.com/.aspx/pid=4...IL-SPRING-PLUG

its assumed its 45 acp what his asking is if it's a full size or other

        there's
government - full size 5 inch

the links he provided are exactly what you need.

make sure to get the gi style guide rod ..a full length one needs a hole in the plug.

Personally I just switched out my SA 2 piece FLGR for a single piece and am happy..but its all preference.

if you just switch our the rod you can keep your bushing/plug and it eliminates the problem of the 2pc becoming loose after firing a few rounds off (and you wont need a tool to field strip although it might hurt your finger)

I agree with everyone here. Get a GI guide rod and plug. It's the best and easiest thing I changed on my 1911.
