Never mind, word is they suck really bad, and I guess "Will not ship to CA" just saved me a few bucks. How hard can it be to make mags that work well? I'm not a Mech Engineering college grad, but seems at least this aspect of gun engineering has fairly loose tolerances such that any modern production machines can't even be set for lower tolerances.

+2 on Magguts. I've had a few Promags for my M&Ps (not Shield) and my Mini 14. Never could get the M&P mags and some of the Mini mags to feed properly. Some of the Mini mags didn't even fit. I've heard good stories from other sources that have had no issues with other models but that's not my experience. The M&P mags ended up in the scrap pile along with some of the Mini mags. A few Mini mags were saved by some filing and swapping followers with Ruger ones. Never again!!

Case in point. here are the 8 rd Shield mags on the Magshack site. Look closely at the pictures on the body near the follower (both sides).

ProMags suck for the Shield. Been hearing this for years now. Go with factory mags as others here have suggested.

You should be thankful they won't send them. They're crap. Spend the money and go with Magguts, I ran factory mags with the original Magguts for years with zero mag issues over thousands of rounds, before I upgraded my EDC gun.

Magguts make +1 and +2 kits. Both will work on the 7 and 8 round mags. The +1 fits inside the standard body and uses oem floor plate. The +2 uses an "extended" floorplate that adds 1/4" to the overall mag length. You still need to use the oem spacer on the 8 round mags.

My bias against them comes from personal experience using them from the mid-1990s through the early-2000s.
Using them resulted in constant reliability and durability issues. Gave them another chance a few years later, same results. Rinse and repeat for a decade. Finally gave up and said never again.

I tried their AK mags, AR15 mags, Mini-14 mags, Beretta 92 series mags, Browning Hi-Power series mags, S&W 59 series mags, Glock 17 series mags, and Glock 22 series mags.
Always experienced reliability issues (failure to feed stoppages, mag floor plates popping off while shooting) and magazine durability issues (feed lips bending out of shape, feed lips cracking, floor plates breaking, springs deforming).
