Sweaty Hands

I don't know if it is because I am a new shooter, or nervous, or what. But my hands seem to start sweating when gripping my handgun, anyone else get sweaty palms? Are there any good quality "shooting" gloves, or is that a bad idea?

I don't but known some friends that do. You can use gloves or get more aggresive grips.

Depends on the weather, i sweat if it's hot and i don't if it's not.. If you just get sweaty palms no matter the weather i would just clean the outside of the gun when you're done shooting..

I was the same way at first; I don't know if my hands just got used to holding a gun or if I got used to the sweat.. either way it doesn't bother me anymore. I would try to get used to it first before you go out and buy gloves or grips

I get sweaty hands too. Talon grips or just grip tape fixed it for me

+1000 on that. Sweat is highly corrosive and I found out the hard way. Make sure to wipe down your firearm, especially if it is a metal frame. It can take the blueing right off if left on for too long.

Rubber grips.

I won't buy a gun if I can't get rubber grips for it (I won't buy a baby eagle 9mm I want because of this - I want rubber grip panels - not the wrap around kind with the finger grooves)

If this is really a problem issue, medical, psych... A long time friend with the condition uses antiperspirant on his hands at home and rubs it in real good before leaving and it gives him a few hours of relief. He also has a set of gloves he carries as well.

Alot of competition shooters use grip enhancers. There are a bunch of different brands.

A nice pair of shooting gloves or some G10 grips have always helped me.

Try a light coating of Talc Powder before handling the gun.

If your hands sweat they will sweat on rubber sleeve grips also. A quick cheap solution is go to a skate board shop and get a huge piece of grip tape and cut pieces out to custom fit where your grip is. This can hold you over until you decide on gloves or other solutions.

Skate shop tape is like $3-$8 for a skateboard sized piece.


Edit: I believe you own a glock? If so there is the Talon Grips option in sand paper texture, unless you conceal carry the sand is better than rubber texture. You can try the cut it yourself for ultimate customization, but the talons are already formed for each model.

Go to Walmart buy a replacement bicycle inner tube cut a section of tube and slip it over your grip (might take some times to stretch it and get it all the way up).

Cheap (you could make a ton of them from one tire), thin and works great!
